We chose this property because it was within walking distance of the main square, it was--relatively--affordable ($200 per night including tax), and breakfast was included. Our room was quite large, though somewhat run-down, and fairly quiet. Breakfast included a variety of foods and was adequate. Assistance by staff members was okay, but mostly unenthusiastic. There is onsite parking included, but we arrived late in the evening, and because of small parking spaces and drivers who parked over the lines, there was no way to fit the car into the three remaining spaces. Eventually, I was able to squeeze it into one of them.

The biggest problem was the strong odor of wood smoke throughout the property. It filled every corridor and permeated our room. We asked about ti at the front desk, and they said there had been a controlled burn that day, but the smell persisted throughout our stay. We noticed a large smoke-belching chimney on top of the restaurant, but I can't say for sure whether that was the cause.

While this property does have the advantages mentioned above, I won't stay here again, and I can't recommend it, because of the smoke problem. I think there are much better, if somewhat more expensive, hotels and B&B's nearby.

We spent 4 nights at the Inn of the Governors. We had booked a standard twin room that we could upgrade to a room with a fireplace for a modest fee. The fireplace really added to the experience. The room was not large but had a lot of character. The bathroom is practical and well equipped. The included breakfast was a quite generous buffet served in the dining room of the restaurant Del Charro. A very nice hotel centrally located in Santa Fe. I would come back.

We have stayed at the Inn two times now, both times for one night only during a road trip. Even for such a short stay, we felt like we were at the center of activities in Santa Fe. We loved the rooms, the lobby area for gathering with our travel friends, and the short walks to wonderful downtown sights and restaurants. We can't wait to go back and stay for a week to more fully explore what Santa Fe has to offer.

My husband and I spent 6 nights at the Inn of the Governors and we were very pleased. We have traveled a good bit over the past couple of years and it always seems that it is the little things that irritate me about hotels and this one did a good job. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. Wi-fi was free and worked! The bathroom had decent lighting and counters to put your toiletries on. Each bed had it's own light for reading, was bright enough to read with, and there were ample plugs close by for plugging in laptops. The coffee maker had a plug that did not require you move the pot to the bathroom or place it on the floor. The bathroom had enough plugs for the hair dryer, curlers and more. There was a refrigerator and and safe in our room. Beyond all that, the hotel is in an excellent location for walking around the old part of Santa Fe. The breakfast buffet is free and is very good and quite extensive. We don't normally eat in hotel restaurants, but Del Charro turned out to be pretty good and served food until midnight, I think. A couple of nights we had eaten lunch very late and weren't ready for dinner until about 9:00 and walking over to Del Charro and having a good meal late rather than searching for some place open was a huge plus. The price for when we stayed was extremely reasonable. I would absolutely stay again.

this is a real authentic santa fe hotel, rooms have corner Kiva fireplaces and decks to enjoy coffee etc. WE have stayed at other hotels and find this one the best. They include breakfast and a bar credit daily, try to stay in a suite as it costs very little more than the regular rooms. WE have stayed there more than 15 times and could not be more pleased with their services.

Room Tip: remember to ask for larger suite rooms as you have a very nice space to speed out your stuff.
