Mrs King and I have been going to Mastro's in T.O. since they first opened, and we have never been disappointed. It is wonderful to have such an incredible prime steakhouse in the little city of Thousand Oaks. This steakhouse competes with the finest steakhouses in the country, and we have been to many, including Cut (Beverly Hills), Prime (Bellagio Hotel), Grill on the Alley (Beverly Hills), and Bones (Atlanta). Mastro's holds up well to these other fine restaurants.

What do you get? Prime steaks, perfectly cooked. Lobster, crab, fresh fish, sushi, daily specials, an incredible pork chop, family-sized (and now smaller) sides, and everything else a fine-diner expects: a great experience, not just a great meal.

Mastro's is dark, comfortable, and busy. Book early, but not too early, as there is live entertainment every night. Try not to be in a hurry. Fine dining is an experience to be enjoyed. Expect to be there at least 2 hours, preferably longer.

If you have show tickets for the venue across the street, Mastro's is the place to have you preshow dinner. When your dining experience is coming to an end, save room for their delicious desert. Our favorite is the butter cake. Wow.

Parking is street-side or paid valet. Not expensive, and worth the convenience.

I’ve been to Mastro’s Steakhouses on business programs in many cities, and these are typically great, perhaps exceeded only by Quality Meats in Manhattan. Uniform excellence in food and service are their hallmarks.

My wife’s birthday and Valentines Day follow each by one day. We asked our son who is knowledgeable and loves his steaks if there one he could recommend. Top of the list was Mastro’s.

We weren’t disappointed. We knew it was going to be pricey but when your celebrating two events it was worth it. Plan on spending a couple of leisurely hours. Our waiter, Raymond, help us with their extensive wine list and bar selection. After the drinks were served along with the freshly baked bread he helped us navigate and explain the menu. He’ll ask if you want the bread and by all means go for it. We had three different samples but our favorite was the pretzel bread. Just sample it because the up coming portions are large.

We skipped the salad and a appetizer and chose the 22oz bone in rib eye with roasted Brussel sprouts. We split both and it was plenty. The steak and all of the meats are served on 400 degree platters so the meat is essentially still cooking as you enjoy it. Savor each bite. The steak was had clarified butter added with finely chopped parsley.

Dessert was a complimentary birthday cake as is their usual practice. But my wife isn’t a fan of chocolate so she had the warm butter cake. If you have any dessert make it the butter cake.

All in all the ambiance was warm and romantic. You won’t be disappointed.

I love masters steakhouse! The petite filet mignon is out of this world. The appetizer i always order is the lobster bisque, which tastes great. I order creamed spinach as a side and the warm butter cake for desert! Both are very good!
