The Shenandoah River from 7 miles on either side of SRO is the most beautiful stretch of river in the valley. The fishing is extraordinary and the folks at the Outfitters are life long residents with the expected knowledge and expertise to ensure a safe, happy trip whether floating the day or staying in one of their beautiful cabins. I grew up fishing on property the outfitters has purchased and they have maintained it perfectly. Nothing stays the same forever and that is sad, but to be able to stay there again is heaven. This is a trustworthy, family run business. Don't miss out no matter what you want to do, as long as you are happy enjoying the most beautiful place on earth.

We have a small child of 4 years old and were looking for something not too extreme for her. The Shenandoah River was perfect. We ended up renting a raft. Was glad to have paddles as tubes leave you at the mercy of the current (which is slow). Beautiful scenery, warm water, and the a perfect float for our family. The staff was helpful, friendly, and even shipped my Yeti cup back home (cuz I left it in the store). It actually beat me home in Florida. Great people, great river!

Excellent experience overall - whether the river level is high or low! Cause it's not just the water activities per se, it's the customer care you receive from the staff (they know their business - and the Shenandoah River - like the back of their hands), it's the unspeakable beauty of the scenery, the tantalizing wildlife by the river's edge, the oneness with nature that embraces you as you face the challenge of the rapids..well the oneness with the water that engulfs you as you try to stay afloat after going down Compton Rapids! Highly recommend this for beginner and expert kayakers alike!

Took 8-mile canoe trip with husband, daughter, and dog (30 lbs - not huge) down the river. Although it sounds crowded, we had plenty of room in the canoe -- brought cushions for my daughter to sit on since she had to sit on the bottom of canoe. Booked the mid-week special online after calling SRO and getting all my questions answered. Check-in and drop-off was super quick and easy. Employees took time to explain how everything works. The views along the river were beautiful - saw a bald Eagle within the first five minutes. We took snacks, but next time would bring a picnic lunch as there were some nice areas you can pull in along shore to enjoy a break. It was my first time canoeing, but it was super-easy and very relaxing. Would definitely do this again.

First time camping here, but looked all around and it seemed to have the best reviews and also located where we intended on hiking around. Let's not forget the price. Yogi Bear CG is over $60 a night! We stayed two nights in a shaded site that came with a picnic table, fire pit, and grill (did not use). There is a bathhouse close by for some hot showers, and running water if you need it, but otherwise it's a basic tent campground. The store stocks small items you may need, or snacks, but not much else. It is a 1/2 mile walk to the river front from the tent sites but it is not very well maintained. Down at the river there is a place to enter and swim, but nothing I'd call a "river front beach." Overall our family of 5 had a great time and will come back again if we are in the area! If you're looking for something to do, there is tons of water activities and hiking within a short drive.
