My wife and like to check out new places to pull our camper to and relax. This is a young camp ground and is located out of the way but close to everything. You have three Cameron tours near by and a number of vineyards that offer tastings over all we are planing to return in the spring. They are open year around.

We were given a site right near the playground. Where did all of these screaming kids come from? Why must children scream at the top of their lungs? Anyway, nice size site. May or may not be suitable for kayaking depending on your level of experience. Well maintained and very scenic. However, check the map and get as far away from the playground as possible. Couples should not be given a site near it.

We booked this site because everywhere else was full ,even though the price was higher than we liked for a non electric/water site. This is definitely a no-frills campground which is perfect for what we wanted. The views are spectacular. It is situated perfectly nestled in the mountains overlooking the river. The night time hours are very quiet-amazingly and surprisingly quiet- we loved it! The staff was awesome. We need to sleep with a fan and forgot batteries and did not want to pay the high price at the camp store. They tried to figure out a way to help us and that really said a lot about them. The only negative I can say is about the bathhouse. It could have been cleaner and designed better. Overall though, the experience was wonderful. We will definitely go again.

The campground offers sites ranging from primitive on the Shenandoah River to large full hookup pull though sites for large RV's. Great place to canoe, kayak, and tube. Sites are hard packed gravel and there is a lot of lawn area between sites. There is no shade, but I could see new baby trees that have been planted. The campground looks out to the mountains and a corn field. We were the only guests for the first three days of our one week stay. The stars at night are beautiful. Our site had a very nice newish picnic table that even had a hole to place an umbrella. There is a small, but very nice play are for children. The park is close to the area sites and there is a Walmart and Food Lion less than five minutes away. There is also a COOP store that made it incredibly easy to get the RV filled with propane, which is across from the Walmart. We camped in a 37 foot class A with four slides and had plenty of room.

Spend some time walking around the little town of Luray. It is is adorable and the movie theatre is really beautiful. Something not to miss!

This campground was a great escape from D.C. My wife and I stayed in the riverview platform sites twice this summer. These particular sites were nice and private with a view of the river and not too far of a walk to the bathrooms. The bathrooms here were always clean, by the way. We tubed down the river quite a decent amount just using the launch at Outlanders - this was very convenient. Caught some bass in the river off a beetle spin (the amount of riverfront at this campground is amazing). The views here are amazing everywhere, really. This campground is also a very easy drive into Luray for the nights you don't feel like cooking over the campfire!
