“Nice hotel building, but cleanliness ruins everything”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 September 2011

Nice building, rooms are in a good condition, but cleanliness is a real disaster. Towels with some dirty spots on it - we really wanted to take a shower, but preferred to skip it. Room service staff that cleans the room looks like is working there for a food. Dirty clothes, real untidiness that you never expect from a person who does a service and especially room service. In the morning we we're shocked by a view how room service staff were seating on a ground near a garbage and eating something from boxes placed in a ground too. After that breskfast they started to go and clean the rooms.... If you have no choice, you can stay there, but never rely on that hotel for more than one oversleep night.

We booked our rooms for 5 nights. We were told one price and they tried charging us a higher price. The rooms are small, the beds were in bad shape. Looked like they were broken. We didn't have hot water for 2 days. They only adjusted our rate for $10.00. I will never stay there again. They pictures for the pool are misleading. It looks bigger with the wide angle lens than it really is.

For the price the hotel had everything including a complimentary breakfast, which covered all the food groups. The rooms were well appointed with all essentials, it was nice to a have microwave and fridge in the room. They were kind to give us inter-connecting rooms even though we forgot to mention the same while booking. Staff was pleasant. For the price it was definitely worth it.

"Best Western Intown of Luray, Roger and Nita Patel" is from business card in lobby.

I would advise reading the bad reviews and give them serious consideration before making a reservation here. I don't enjoy writing a poor review but want others to have the opportinity to make an informed decision. Foolish me for Not reading Trip Advisor first.

We decided spur of the moment to go to Luray Caverns and knew Best Western should be nice so made reservation. 48 hour no cancellation policy locked us in. We really tried to stay positive as we were locked into staying here.

The first impression opening the car door was something stinks really bad. Tried to overlook it as just a passing smell. We reserved non smoking and the first non smoking room stunk of smoke. Next room, 101 next to office was better. The bad smell outside the office and our room didn't go away. Realized it was something that had died and was still there rotting. Room was also loaded with flies. Called front desk to ask if they could do something about the situation. Girl said they knew about the smell and it wasn't something that died but their kitchen that just burned out. As for the flies we can give you a flyswatter and that is all we can do. I am experienced enough to know the difference between dead things and burned things. The desk clerk sounded very familiar with the complaints and was very emphatic that there was nothing she could do.

I went for a dip in the pool and it was very dirty. The floating stuff all around me made the dip very quick and I had to get out. It looked clean from a distance, but being in it was gross.

I would guess this place was built in the early 60's. Some updates have been made, but much is original. The staff was nice, but you could tell they were limited. We must have killed 20 flies in the room over 12 hours. They kept coming in through vents or door. Flyswatter included with room! They forgot to mention that in the room description.
I did notice another reviwer said flies are a "Luray" thing. Just seems like more of them hang around dead things.

Our sheets looked clean so we did not want to look any further at the beds. Carpet was new and clean. Desk clerk said new beds were being installed soon, but nothing she could do about old ones. (Ongoing Theme) Bathroom was original 60's vintage tile and fixtures. Also noticed when we changed rooms we went from an old TV to a newer LCD TV. Ice machine and hallway were filthy. BW should visit. I would like to know if it is up to their standards.

Well Luray is a small town so there aren't too many choices of hotels.

Location: Close to all attractions and river activities.

Hotel: Rooms o.k., bed comfortable, shower a bit cramped. Downside FLIES all over the place, we killed dozens. The front desk was even kind enough to give us our own fly swatter. Apparently this is a Luray thing this time of the year. The TV and amount of stations was decent. Air conditioning on lowest level felt like sub zero temperatures.

Pool- 20' x 60', freezing cold in July. Noticed the pool man looked 90 plus yrs old, hey buddy don't add so much chlorine. It burns your eyes!

Breakfast: Free with cereal, toast (remember the flies), and water downed coffee. If your on a budget it might work for you. a

If your on a budget, it's clean, and has basic amenities, but they did have free wii fi which was nice.

Luray is something of a tourist town, and other reviews led me to choose this hotel. It was okay, a bit dated but still fine. We had a room right near the office, and were dismayed when several motorcylists were given the room next to us (despite that it seemed fairly vacant) but they were no trouble nor noise at all. This is sort of a pricey town, so this was a bit more than I like to spend but whatcha gonna do? The room was adequate, with a frig and microwave, but had lots of flies! Not sure why or if that is typical. I wouldn't spend a fortune to stay there but if you get a decent price, it is okay for a night.

Room Tip: Get away from the highway if possible.
