This 'was our first visit to the Cliffside Inn. You always wonder if the place you are going to stay at will come up to your expectations and the Inn did that and more. Our room was exquisite with the beautiful linens on the four poster bed, a fireplace, and lovely Bay window. The antiques throughout the Inn showed great attention to detail. Nancy and Bill, our Inkeeepers, could not do enough to make us feel "at home." I had an unplanned visit to the E.R. and they were so concerned for my well being. and made accomadations for our daughter and grandaughter who drove up to stay overnight in order to take us home We can go on and on, but suffice it to say our stay there was memorable and hope to return some day. Our personal thanks to Nancy and Bill who are the perfect Innkeepers.

We are just so happy that things worked out ok and everyone is fine. Although the trip was cut short, we really enjoyed the time we had with both of you and hope that you can return soon to continue the visit.

Best,
Nancy and Bill

We have been to Newport several times, as it is an easy drive from NYC and has beautiful, as well as historic, attractions. This was our first time at the Cliffside Inn, and we couldn't have been more thrilled to discover this delightful property. In essence, it has everything you would want in a B&B--charm, excellent accommodations, terrific food, and wonderful amenities (wine tasting and high tea). Bill and Nancy, who took over the property less than a year ago, have created an atmosphere that is welcoming and special; you are treated as honored guests and friends. Further, it is located right off the Cliff Walk, so the location could not be better. All in all, a perfect weekend getaway.

It was our pleasure having all of you! We really had a great time chatting by the firepit and hearing about your work and our Africa connection. I do hope you will come back to visit us again soon. I'll post pictures to the Facebook page after the Rwanda/Tanzania trip in March.

All the best,
Nancy and Bill

My husband and I recently stayed at the Cliffside Inn for our honeymoon. Where do I begin to describe the wonderful experience that is Cliffside? The innkeepers, Bill and Nancy, were stupendous. How two people can accomplish what they do is beyond me. They were readily available with grand suggestions when needed, yet almost invisible when one wanted privacy....they had a knack for being just what one wanted when one wanted it.

The property was gorgeous and well-tended. We stayed in the Beatrice Room and could not have been happier. The room and its en suite bathroom were beautifully decorated in period pieces and were clean and tidy. Staff was caring and considerate. Linens were fresh daily and the nightly turn down service was a very sweet touch.

Breakfasts were a lovely start to the day....the food was fabulous and well thought out. The company of other guests, as well as Bill and Nancy, was delightful. Bill and Nancy listened carefully to our ideas and plans for the day, and added suggestions that were always right on the money.

I can't say enough good things about Cliffside and its 'keepers. My husband and I were thrilled to stumble on this gem and will most certainly visit with Bill, Nancy and Koty again as soon as we can.

Kudos to you both, Bill and Nancy! You have mastered the art of hospitality and being gracious hosts. Thank you for opening your 'home' to us! We loved every minute of it!

Room Tip: I doubt there are any bad ones!

Speaking for all the Cliffside Inn staff...we love having honeymoon guests stay with us. It gives all of us the opportunity to create some special memories for the newlyweds. We are so glad you enjoyed your long-awaited honeymoon, and appreciate your taking the time to let otehrs know about the inn and your stay. We look forward to a future "anniversary" visit.

All the best.

We have travelled the world quite intensively, on business trips and private. We have seen a large number of 5 star business Hotels in many countries round the world. And we have seen very charming small Boutique Hotels and wonderful B&B's. The Cliffside Inn at Newport outperforms them all!

Coming from Germany we had the chance to spent a holiday week "plus" at Newport and the Cape in 10/2011. Lovely weather, an absolutely perfect Inn - recently renovated and superbly furnished with breathtaking modern bathrooms and - on top of all - the warm hospitality and friendliness of Nancy and Bill.

The location is absolutely wonderful. Quiet and lovely placed in a nice landscape. A few yards to the Cliff Walk with all the Mansions. A few minutes by car to the wharf with all the harbor life and the splendid dinner locations.

We loved the private atmosphere and the hearty welcome, lovely afternoon teas and superb breakfasts (sometimes cooked by Bill). After three days we had to move on to the Cape but after a short stay in a dramatically overrated 5 star resort at Chatham we decided to return for another night. We have seen almost every room at the Cliffside Inn. Every one of them is an experience in its own. We especially enjoyed the Tower Suite for its privacy, its view and the maisonette character. Nancy and Bill know all the "places" and they love to share their knowledge.

Dear Fellow Traveler, do not hesitate to stay there. Do not shop around for better places or rates. This is the place to be in Newport! If we come back to this region of the world again, we will make sure to stay at the Cliffside Inn again. Carmen & Norbert

Room Tip: All rooms are perfect and wonderful. Each of them has a distinct and individual style.

I've never written a review on Tripadvisor, but felt compelled to write one for Cliffside Inn after my girlfriend and I spent an amazing two days with Bill and Nancy over Columbus Day weekend. The house is gorgeous. We stayed in the Grosvenor Suite and loved it - lots of windows let the sun in and brightened the room each morning. But maybe our favorite aspect of the room (or at least my girlfriend's) was the huge bathroom with its incredible shower and jacuzzi.

Location was fantastic as well. Very close to downtown Newport, but more importantly, a stone's throw away from the Cliffwalk - close enough that we woke up early our last morning to watch the sunrise over the ocean. I seriously don't think we'd have had the willpower to overcome our sleepiness had the walk to the Cliffwalk required more than 2 minutes. We also got to enjoy the firepit some after sharing a bottle of wine on the porch Saturday night.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience. Bill and Nancy were super-gracious and welcoming (as was Cody!). The only slightly negative thing I can think of is that parking got tight when the inn got to full capacity - a high-class problem, but it got tricky getting cars in when people started to return from being out at night. And my only regret is that given all these great reviews, we might find it hard to book a room in the future.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Grosvenor Suite which is on a sort of intermediate level between the first and second floors and in the mornings we could hear soft chatter coming from the kitchen/entrance area. It wasn't a big deal since we were up anyway, but something to keep in mind.

We enjoyed having you here for the Columbus Day weekend. I have to agree with your girlfriend - that bathroom is one of our best! We are so glad you enjoyed the stay and hope you will return soon. We continue to attempt to get the parking lot lined to ease the "clutter" but once again had to cancel this week due to rain. It will be done soon. Koty misses his scratches and hopes to see you back soon too.

Best,
Bill, Nancy and Koty.
