The first week of December I planned a girls trip to Newport to view the mansions. We stay at the Clarkeston Inn. What a beautiful Inn!!! All the Charm of Newport, all in walking distance to the shops, restaurants, and waterfront. Each room decorated differently, with fresh, classic New England style, warm and welcoming. Rick, the owner, was awesome, always there to suggest restaurants and places to see. Eight of us went and had a wonderful time!! I would highly recommend not only this Inn, but the others he operates as well. We are planning a return trip this spring, and I am going back this winter with my husband!!

Room Tip: Just let Rick know your needs!! He had twin rooms and Doubles to King!!

My wife and I started staying at the Inns of Newport 14 years ago before we got married. We've been going at least twice a year ever since and had our entire wedding party stay there. Rick and his staff are fantastic people and accommodate every need. The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast they serve is second to none. You will find no better deal in all of Newport.

Stayed in The Clarkston (one of five properites) across the street from the Cleveland House. No elevators so be prepared to walk the narrow stairs to upper floors. Room was spacious with modern amenities. Bed was comfortable with feather pillows and high-end bedding. Hot breakfast is made to order with eggs, waffles and pancakes. The inn is located within comfortable walking distance of the harbor and downtown area. Best B&B of the trip.

Room Tip: Talk to Rick.

The street was cramped, but when you are traveling late in October in Newport you are not fighting traffic. The room we stayed in was on the second floor, had wide original floorboards, and a wonderful bed. The linens were high quality and fresh. The bed was comfortable on a cold and rainy night. Location was great, with a short walk through the narrow streets of the historic area to the restaurants and shops down by the harbor. I was leery of the stairs, but we were offered help with our luggage. Breakfast was nice, with a variety of options offered, including hot eggs made to order. We were in the Clarkeston Inn.

Room Tip: if stairs are a problem, ask for a room on the main floor.
