It was our second stay there and I was even more impressed than before. The Inn is gorgeous. There are fireplaces, king size beds, jacuzzis, hd tvs in the rooms. We were in Courtyard 2, so we didn't need a stepstool for our bed. The afternoon tea is a meal in itself. Breakfast is elaborate. There are always two hot choices to accompany the buffet. The people who work there are extremely friendly. Anne Marie remembered us after our stay last year. This is a historic building with an interesting history located right in the heart of Newport.

Room Tip: Use their website to view the rooms. All are beautiful.

While the accommodations and service were above average, the food was just that; average. The afternoon tea and coffee service was nice, but the snacks and pastries lacked quality. It was cheap-gourmet. The cookies were hard and processed tasting and the brownies tasted like a box-mix. The cheddar-bacon biscuits were simply breakfast's leftover bacon crumbled on a store bought biscuit. It wasn't horrible tasting, but didn't reflect the quality of the impeccable accommodations and service.

Breakfast was also average. I was quite disappointed with the fake maple syrup and Jimmy Dean bacon so thin you could see through it. At almost $300 a night, I did not expect such a cheap breakfast. Maybe it was my meal choice the first day, but I decided to skip breakfast the second day.

The Francis Malbone House is outstanding as a Bed, but definitely needs a little work on the Breakfast aspect.

We just came home from staying 3 nights at the Francis Malbone Inn in January 2012. The entire experience was impeccable!!! The rooms are immaculate, comfortable, cozy and spacious . The rooms actually look like the photos on there website. Pristine is the word best to describe the entire Inn. This is a place where you can actually use the tubs or the Jacuzzi because it is so clean. The beds are delightful. The Inn itself is beautiful with its gleaming hardwood floors, lovely furnishings and welcoming fireplaces throughout. Now for the food!! It is YUMMY!!! They serve a beautiful breakfast in front of a fireplace in the dinning room as well as an afternoon tea full of delicious treats. Will and his team look after all your needs as if you are family. What makes the Francis Malbone Inn extraordinary is the attention to detail and its TLC towards its guests and their Inn. Newport is an obvious choice in the summer, but its an even better getaway in the winter to tuck in and be pampered.Thank you Will for the best stay! ( you know we didn't want to leave) Look forward to seeing you again in April. Matt & Audrey

Room Tip: Any room you choose will be perfect

My wife and I stayed for a couple of nites the last week in December. We had tried many other destinations in Newport, but keep coming back. The staff is wonderful and takes care of every request and always with a warm smile. Tremendous atmosphere with exceptionally comfortable rooms, great breakfast, and outstanding tea time. We will return!!

Room Tip: Courtyard Room #5 - great whirpool!

This is our 6th stay at the Francis Malbone House in Newport and I can't think of a nicer place to be in Newport. Anne Maria, Will and the entire staff know how to treat their guests well. Our business meetings have been consistently well-organized and efficient and the ammenities for a successful meeting are always available, even before we inquire about them. The down time spent at the house is quite relaxing with the beautiful guest rooms, comfortable common areas and delicious and plentiful Tea offerings each afternoon. The staff knows the Newport area very well and are extremely helpful in booking a reservation at a great restaurant, spa or local museum or in keeping you informed of events happening in the area. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time at this Inn and would recommend it with highest ratings.

Room Tip: You can feel confident that any room you choose in this house will be a good one. There are options...

My wife and I stayed there for the long new year's weekend.
The room was very nice, welcoming and while beds are an individual experience- for us the bed was comfy. The room was clean and the bathroom/ hot tub was great. The TV was tiny- probably my only complaint but it wasn't the reason we came there so we didn't mind so much.
The breakfast is very good and the afternoon tea is nice as well although I thought it will be more of an opportunity to mingle with the guests but it didn't happen.
The location is perfect, close to everything and there is a very convenient parking lot.
The employees are very nice and add to a general relaxing and nice experience.
I will recommend this place to anyone who asks me.
