I have been to this restaurant twice in the last few months and ordered these enchiladas both times because they are so good. The restaurant is often crowded and doesn't have enough spots to wait comfortably for a table. But the wait for the good food is worth it. .

Love this place! Service is always good. Food is excellent...they have a wide range of excellent Mexican dishes, as well as good sandwiches (I especially like the Southwest Chicken Club) and daily specials (try the Fish and Chips on Friday!). A nice relaxed and warm atmosphere and a lovely patio area for dining when the weather gets warm. The Margarita's are definitely worth a try...very tasty!

I know this restaurant has been a local favorite since 1944, but after many years of eating Mexican food across the country and in Mexico--what's the all the fuss about Wisdom's?

Food: It was the most blah, below-average Mexican food I've ever had. The chimichanga completely lacked flavor and the chile rellano was small and greasy instead of light and fluffy. My spouse agreed--it was blah from beginning to end. I'm not talking about just lack of spice but lack of flavor. Margaritas, delivered in mason jars, were OK but not exceptional. Several older family members liked the deep-fried fruit burritos for dessert, a tradition at Wisdom's.

Decor: Predictable Mexican cafe decor. The mesquite wood bar is lovely, but the restaurant's interior wouldn't pass fire code in any jurisdiction in this country.
Accessibility: Uneven floors and a totally non-accessible/non-ADA restroom. Sad... and makes you wonder what the kitchen looks like.
Location: It's about 55 miles south of Tucson--a long drive.

Wisdom's has been around for a long time and is a popular spot with the locals from Tubac. The food is adequate, if a little overpriced. They are famous for their fruit chimichangas, but I'm on a restricted diet, so I can't comment on those. There's not really anything else in the little town of Tumacacori, so if you just happen to be here it might be worthwhile to check it out. Otherwise drive up to Tubac, just a few miles away, and find some excellent dining opportunities there.
