Staff were helpful, right next to sea, We Stayed there 5 nights during the second week of our holiday. Wish we had stayed there during our whole week in Honolulu, but we booked with a hotel one block further from Waikiki beach which wasn't as nice.
Upon arriving, the concierge had everything ready: breakfast passes, keys. They're very organized. Our room was clean, comfortable, everything was new, and was fully equipped with central air, not the noisy a/c units. We got the partial ocean view as we chose, unlike some other hotel advertisements that didn't produce. Breakfast buffet was delicious. Lots to choose from and friendly and professional waitstaff and hosts. If a big swimmimng pool is important go to the Hilton and pay big bucks. If not, I checked out most every other hotel on the 'strip' and despite what you may see on the internet, they are all nearly the same size as this one or more money. We did not find the noise from the street a factor.

Room Tip: 6th floor was great

This place was perfect! We got upgraded to the one of the top floors facing diamond head/oceanview. It was great waking up and sitting on the balcony, drinking Kona coffee, hearing the waves of the ocean, and watching the sun rise. We were here during the Kamehameha Festival (fun time to go to Waikiki). One of the nights, right in front of the hotel there was a street party, there were local artists selling great hand made items, delicous food, music, live hula, and so much more. We were just lucky it was going on the during the time we stayed in Waikiki. On to the room...it was very clean and ready when we needed it. The staff was helpful with advice. The location is perfect very close to all the good stuff. We really enjoyed our stay.

We had a very easy checking - thanks Mark. After a long flight from Nova Scotia, it was appreciated.. We were given a great room on the 15th floor with a view of the ocean and the Royal Hawaiian pink hotel. We walked all over the area taking in the street entertainment. Not too far from the famous beach, we were able to take in a swim before check out. We would stay here again, for sure. Thank you again Holiday Inn.

Aloha nanaKNovaScotia and thank you for your kind words! You certainly did come a long way and we're delighted that we were able to accommodate and fulfill your hotel needs. Yes, our location is superb, but it especially pleases me that you mention our employees. Our team takes great pride in taking care of the many guests that make the Beachcomber their home here in Honolulu, and we're very appreciative of your compliments. By the way, if you haven't already, yes, please do join IHG's Priority Club Rewards program, which you can easily do online. Mahalo, Dean.

We were most disappointed that we had to wait nearly 5 hours to access our room. I know we were told that it would not be available until 3 pm, but I tried to explain that my husband (76)had been very sick on the ship and he was very tired and could not walk very far. All he wanted to do was lie down and sleep. This apparently was not enough for us to be given a room earlier. We had to wait in the lobby which had the most uncomfortable seating ever. When we did get our room, we were very pleased about the presentation and cleanliness of the room. We had no noise from outside, which was good, and were very happy with the bar and the staff downstairs. Jimmy Buffet's restaurant, which is just off the lobby, was not as good as what we had been told. We had to wait such a long time for service, menu, drinks and finally the food. Then another endless wait for the "bill". We did not go back there again. We recommend the hotel but the reception people need to lift their game.

Room Tip: Above the 7th floor is very quiet.

Excellent front-end service-we checked in late Apr 19 2012 - and were cheerfully greeted by Ashley. From there on in, we knew we had picked the right hotel. We were happy with our room (10th floor), there is an in-house concierge who helped us book a number of excursions and recommended restaurants nearby (Hoola Grill) that we were just great and not outrageously pricey. The International Market is literally on the property and access to city buses were merely a hop away. Definitely returning to this hotel.

Room Tip: 10th floor - quiet and away from traffic noise

Aloha bobgloria and thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay at the Beachcomber! We're delighted that you enjoyed our hotel and even more pleased that you mention our Aloha spirit and our employees in particular. Our team works hard to take care of the many guests from all over the world and it's gratifying to hear such kind words from our customers. I hope the Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Resort will see you return to Honolulu in the not-too-distant future. Mahalo, Dean Nakasone.

This is an older hotel that has had some upgrades. I stayed here for a week for work, and it was fine for that. I did notice a slight slant in the floor. They are not really geared for business travelers. On one occasion I asked to use their one meeting room since no one was using it and the desk said no. When I asked the manager he said of coarse we could - why wouldn't they if no one was using it? You may need to talk to the manager for service requests outside of what their used to. It is not on the beach, although you can see the water from a distance from some of the rooms. I noticed there were very few kids, but the hotel is not really geared for families. The pool is extremely small, and there is not much for kids to do. To get to the elevators you have to pass by a bar, which is also next to the pool area. There are a fair amount of drinkers about in the evening. The hotel is in the middle of shopping, and many couples with no kids were there shopping. It is also a block away from Kuhio Avenue, which I learned is traditionally heavy with prostitution. I learned that when I was propositioned on the way to a market looking for 3x5 cards for a talk I was giving the next day. The other reason I would hesitate bringing my family here is that they have a heavy pornography pitch on their TV. They do not ask if you want pornography options in your room, so if you forget to ask that they turn it off at the desk you have to go through all these steps with the remote to filter the porn (which only my kids could figure out). If your single, or out to party, this is reasonably priced and would work okay. There are much better options for families.
