“Its the Wonderful Service that made this a memorable stay!”
Reviewed 30 June 2010

My wife and I have stayed at several Aqua properties (Renew, Bamboo, Hotel Wailea, Kauai Beach) and we will continue to do so in the future for any number of reasons, but the one that sets these resorts apart from other chains, or larger properties, can be summed up in two words: "Excellent Service".

If the Hotel Wailea is the Crown Princess of the Aqua properties, then most assuredly the Ilikai is the Queen.

Our party consisted of 3, 40+ year-old adults and a couple newly-minted college grads, and we had three rooms on the 24th floor overlooking the ocean and marina.

Pros:
1. Management Staff. Very cordial, and accomodating. Great followthrough. Couldnt ask for better, anywhere.
2. Location. A block from the great foodcourt at Ala Moana mall; plenty of other places to eat less than a block away. Excellent beach.
3. Value. The rooms are solidly built, very quiet, well-maintained, and a heck of a value for the area. While I cant speak on behalf of anyone else, I think the rate I received from a direct booking and 60 day pre-pay was superb

Cons:
Cant think of any from our experience.

We were close to the beach, restraunts, and all the night life. The Hotel was extremely helpful in pointing us in the right direction for the things we wanted, super helpful.
You cant beat being on the ocean and enjoying the amazing breakfast in the mornings!

I only stayed in the Ilikai for a few days (did a bit of island hopping during this vacation), but I wish I could've stayed longer, so I'll just have to go back. The day we got there (Wednesday) there was a reception for guests at the hotel Restaurant (Sorento's) and we got to meet the management and got free drinks and food (excellent fried calamari and bruschetta). I found this to be a really nice touch, and the management was extremely friendly and welcoming. When I go back I definitely want to stay longer and get to experience the fireworks every Friday. My flight left Friday a few hours before them :(.

Rates were reasonable, rooms were gorgeous, walls were nice and thick and kept outside noise out (had a bad experience with thin walls at a hotel in Kauai that same trip, so this hotel was a relief), and had a superb view from the room (stayed on the 24th floor, ocean view...got a HUGE rainbow our last day there!).

Location was great, too. Every day we were there we walked down the street to the Ala Moana mall for the amazing food court (lots of great Asian food), and did some great shopping. Close to some great nightlife!

Overall, I loved everything about my stay at this hotel and it will be seeing me again!

We recently stayed at the Ilikai twice, before and after travelling to the mainland. We first stayed in a unit managed by Waikiki Oceanfront Rentals, on the 21st floor with an Ocean View. The view was beautiful and the unit was clean, the linen provided was lovely and clean and the unit catered for everything you would need on a sun/surf holiday. As we only had two days on our return we stayed in one of the rooms that is managed by the hotel, these were not self contained but were very clean and were serviced daily.
This hotel is an old hotel as can be seen from the outside but don't be fooled she is beautiful inside and the rooms are larger than the average hotel rooms.
We had breakfast in the hotel cafe, the food was very nice and the staff were welcoming and friendly.
Although the hotel is not in the heart of Waikiki it is a pleasant walk to the action. It is however very close to the Ala Moana Shopping Centre and the Ala Moana Beach and it has direct access to Waikiki Beach and the Marina.
I don't believe I would choose any other hotel over this beautiful old icon.

Wow...I feel so refreshed after staying at the Ilikai Hotel overlooking the Alawai Boat Harbor. Our second stay at this hotel which re-confirms our desire to book this hotel on any future stays. The hotel was excellent in service, accommodations and dining. the feel was that of total peacefulness when walking into the main lobby where we were met by an efficient and friendly front desk staff. Our room was spacious offering all the amenities one would expect such as a mini refrig, iron, board, hairdryer, safe and coffee maker with coffee condiments included. The location was fantastic and within walking distance of the Ala Moana Shopping Center and the white sand beach walk to Waikiki Beach itself. Personally, the beach closest to the hotel which is known as "Duke's Beach" was spacious and uncrowded with expansive white sand swimming beaches available everywhere. The hotel restaurant offered a nice menu which was never disappointing in taste. The chef and staff were friendly and accommodating in every way. I highly recommend this hotel for first time vistors or locals visiting from another island such as ourselves. We will return!
