“Good location between Waikiki and downtown Honolulu”
Reviewed 10 February 2012

Hotel has 2 towers-Waikiki and Kona tower. Waikiki Tower rooms seem to be a little larger although rooms are not big. Stay on a higher floor or it could be noisy. Excellent location for shopping at Ala Moana Center (just walk out the 2nd floor exit to center). Also across from Ala Moana Beach Park which is nice for a run or picnic. Hotel is about 4 short blocks from the hub-bub of Waikiki and about 8 blocks to downtown Honolulu, fairly EZ access to free ways too. Valet Parking at $25 is high and not included in the room. No great restaurant in hotel but for business I like the central location verses being in Waikiki where you have to contend with traffic. Oh, one other thing-you get free internet service with your room, but it doesn't work for an IPAD - had to do that in the lobby.

Room Tip: Higher floor to avoid street noise

I stayed there back in January. the hotel / condos / time share is nice. while it's not close to the beach and it will be a walk to get there... the Mall next to it is connected to the hotel which is nice.

Having the Mall next to the hotel is great if your a business traveler because you have plenty of options on where to dine at.

The Staff was very friendly and the room where average and acquitted. see the attached pics for view from my room.

The only bad thing that I can say about my stay there was the Hotel charges you $20 a night to park your vehicle in their downstairs parking lot... I feel if they are charging you for the room then it should also include free parking.

The other bad thing is they charge you .75 cents for local calls...c'mon now...

Stayed in the Waikiki tower for 6 nights on the 24 th floor with a view of Harbour and ocean from nice lanai The room was decent size with a king size bed, microwave, coffee maker and dorm fridge. Bathroom was small. Easy access to shopping and dining at the shopping center. Pool was fine but a 10 minute walk to beach park. Catch public bus #8 into all parts of Waikiki. Probably not the best choice for first time visitors because
of location away from Waikiki beach.

We went to Oahu for the week-end and spent 2 nights at the hotel. The rooms are tiny and over furnished and the bed is so so small (full size only).
The positive side are the amenities : coffee maker, microwave, safety box and small fridge inside the room. Could not sleep because of the noise from people walking in the middle of the night. The front desk not so welcoming. Did not greet us and when I called the front desk, the lady was laughing and talking to a friend while answering the phone.
Expensive ($120 per night) for what you get.

We had an unexpected stay at the Ala Moan Hotel because we were bumped from our flight home so Delta put us up here one night. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Reception wasn't overly enthusiastic, but the girl warmed up once we pried her out of her shell. Not sure how long it has been since the hotel got a major facelift, but it looks very nice and clean with a bright and airy feel.

Had a room on the 28th floor with a fabulous view over the city and to the oceanfront. Every room seems to have a balcony. Ours was ample in size with a table and 2 chairs. The room was on the small size, but certainly acceptable for 2 people. There were 2 double beds, comfortable (although the pillows were on the thick side which I find a tad bit uncomfy, but that's my personal preference). There was a wall a/c unit, but we did not use it. There was not much hall noise although you could hear the occasional door open/shut. The bathroom was very bright and clean. It came with a blow dryer in a drawer with a note to let you know it was stashed away. Soap and shampoo were also provided in the usual sample size. The shower/tub was clean and the water pressure was fine.

A med size refrigerator that can store plenty of items is under a counter, along with a microwave and coffee maker. A small closet had a ironing board/iron. There was a cable in the room to connect with your laptop since the wifi only works in the lobby. The front desk will provide you with the password for the wifi.

The Plantation Restaurant located outside at the entrance to the hotel is where we ate breakfast. We only ate there because we had meal vouchers, otherwise it is a very expensive b'fast. The continental b'fast is $13; that gets you fruit, yogurt, cereals, and breads. The fruit and yogurt "bar" were the only thing of note for me on the continental bar. The full buffet will cost another 5 bucks bringing it up to $18. For that you get hot items like eggs, bacon, etc. There was no outdoor or open air dining that we were aware of, and the air conditioned interior was torturous for early morning. We could not wait to get out of the dining room because we were so uncomfortable with the freezing temps.

The elevators were very fast and we never had to wait long for one. From the second floor we could easily access walking over to the Ala Moana Mall. We looked at the fitness room, but did not use it. There were loads of equipment choices, a sauna, and steam room. The pool was on the small size, but the area looked fine. We saw it at night and it was roped off since it was closed.

We had dinner at Yuzu, a Japanese restaurant tucked away in a back corner of the hotel. It was delicious.

Overall our one night stay was a pleasant experience.

The rooms are acceptable. The location is good for the Convention Center but not near Waikiki. The price was appropriate.

Room Tip: Fight for the type of room that you reserved

We were lucky and got a room in the Waikiki Tower with a great view over the Marina. I LOVED being able to get out of the lift and literally roll into the mall!
