This old-fashioned museum is located in Vicksburg's most prominent landmark - its old hilltop courthouse - and offers an extensive, matter-off-fact chronicling of the city's history - before, during and after the Civil War. Lots of artifacts, both military and domestic. It's the best museum in the city.

We rate this the best place to visit in Vicksburg. The beautiful old building, still a glorious piece of will maintained history with everything you could ask regarding the epic battle of Vicksburg. You must go and take time to read the exhibits, see the clothing and feel the presents of the courtroom. I found myself walking on worn wooden plants that I wish could talk.

This museum has a great collection of local Vicksburg historically significant information. It is the second building as the first on burned. This one was completed in 1860 and underwent the siege of Vicksburg by General Grant for 47 days. A real gem. Admission if $5.00 for adults or $4.50 for seniors. Great for whole family, but would not recommend for young children. 2nd floor has stairs and a handicap stair climber but is not a good place for strollers or wheelchairs.

This museum is well worth a visit. It is absolutely crammed with items of interest I'm not going to say much more and just let the pictures do the talking. This is a must see. Give it a try.

It took me about an hour to see everything at this museum. It cost $5 to get in. Some interesting items and exhibits. Grant's chair was interesting. The gift shop sells authentic civil war items.
