We wanted to stay close to old faithful inn but didn't want to stay in that historical hotel for the price of $230. For the same price, we chose to stay in snow lodge hotel. We got the room in the hotel with two queen beds. The whole hotel is relatively new. My mother loves it and keeps saying we should stay for longer. The staff was very nice to us. Spent time to explain all the activities available that night and the next morning. The beds were very comfortable. We had dinner at the restaurant and lunch at the fast food place inside the hotel. Both places were decorated very nicely, but food was just average. We had better experience at mammoth hotel. Bottom line, for the price of >200 a night, this is the best choice, even comparing with the hotels outside at west entrance!

Room Tip: Any room inside hotel should be good.

This was my second trip to the Old Faithful Snow Lodge having previously visited in October 2010.

Having stayed in all the accommodation types in Old Faithful (including the Inn) I can confirm that the Snow Lodge Standard Room 2 Queens is the best option in Old Faithful. The rooms are new and clean, and have wifi. The rooms in Old Faithful Inn are run down and need doing up.

My only criticism of the Snow Lodge is the thin walls - each time our next door neighbour shut a drawer, it rattled the pictures on our wall. The dining options are also much better in Old Faithful Inn.

But stay here if you are staying in the park. From my experience of the national parks, this is as good as Xanterra managed accommodation gets.

We stayed for one night , June 13, 2011, on a circuit of Yellowstone. We had a cabin which was quite shabby in care. We had an end unit close to the road, so obviously it was quite noisy. Be sure you insist on not having a unit near the road. The room was large but the bathroom was so small that the toilet was practically in the tub. Furthermore, there was a used bottle of shampoo in the basket. It led us to wonder if the room was even cleaned.

The manager on duty when we checked in was quite snippy and downright rude. The staff seemed nice. When we brought the sticky, used bottle of shampoo to the desk, the staff member was apologetic but the manager seemed unphased. We never received any communication from management. Apparently, the sentiment is that with very few options to stay within the park, take it or leave it.

This cabin was priced at $181/night. Way too overpriced for little property, staff pride or value. I will not stay here again.

We stayed at the Snow Lodge for 2 nights in June 2011. The room was clean, bed was very comfortable, and the food was good. My only complaint was that the walls were thin and we could hear others. However, it wasn't noisy nor did we notice it late at night when trying to sleep (we slept just fine!). It was located conveniently to the Old Faithful area and geyser basins.

Overpriced for a family vacation ($230) one night. Lodge is quite new and beautiful. Rooms are nicely decorated - though I could do wihout the fancy bed dressing for a lower price. Kids were disappointed to have no TV. It is the ultimate in convenience to the new Visitor's Center and Old Faithful - 5 min. walk. On the downside - we were too warm and adjusting the thermostat didn't seem to affect the temperature.
