We stayed at Bob's in the middle of our roadtrip around California last year, and it was hands down the best part of our trip!
Bob is an amazing host, and was very accommodating of our vague arrival time (having driven there direct from Vegas). We arrived quite late at night, exhausted from the drive, and the cosy apartment, with its pathway lit up with little lights was a very welcome sight! :)
The apartment was clean and cosy, open plan with a little kitchen, big bed and comfy sofa, dining table and TV, there was also a separate bathroom with a good shower, all beautifully finished. The nearest supermarket in North Fork is a short drive away and had everything you could need.
The views from Bobs garden are amazing, and we enjoyed drinks watching the sun set, barbecuing steak for our dinner!
When we met Bob the morning after we arrived he was very friendly and gave us lots of tips on where we could go to hike, and when would be best to go into Yosemite Valley (we left around 6am the other 2 mornings as it's around 1 hour 10ish from the house to the valley itself).
On our last night Bob invited us down to his house for some drinks with his girlfriend Jackie and we had a really wonderful time chatting and getting to know them both! We had an amazing stay and were very sad to leave Bob's apartment and Yosemite and would love to stay again in the future.
Thanks Bob, it was a pleasure meeting you and staying in your home! :)
P.s. We actually stayed at here in September last year but for some reason Trip Advisor won't let us pick that date for our review!
Bob's place is located just outside North Fork with great views from the garden and patio area. It is a fantastic location to unwind and relax. It is very private with private use of a BBQ, eating area and fire pit as well as the use of a pool.
The accommodation sleeps 2 comfortably with space for 1 on the couch and the use of an inflatable mattress if required. The kitchen is comprehensive and there are supermarkets nearby for supplies.
Bob is friendly and pleasant and he was able to give advice or where to go to visit and to eat.
Overall, a great experience, a pleasure to meet Bob and to stay at his place. I would highly recommend this location if you are in the area.
Bob constructed his wonderful home in a fabulous location about 50 minutes from the Southern Entrance to Yosemite. The apartment is on the second floor of his home and is immaculate. Bob is an artisan and it was a pleasure to see his precision and beautiful work. The home is located atop a hill overlooking a beautiful valley and it is lovely to sit in the lower patio, read and gaze at the scenery. We have been to Yosemite many times and but never to the southern part of the park near Wawona. Lots of things to do there and in the Bass Lake area--we had several beautiful waterfall/wildflower walks in and outside the park. It would be a bit far to go to the more majestic (and crowded) valley and northern area, but it could be done. A lovely place to stay!
Bob is an excellent host! The space is charming and cozy, and we appreciated the Roku TV after a long day in Yosemite. Beautiful views as well.
In effect, this is an upstairs apartment of the home of the owner (Bob Voiss), a fellow who could not be more pleasant and helpful in both arranging the stay and helping out once we arrived. We were joined by our two young grandsons who happily shared a queen sized blow-up and comfortable air mattress (one could have slept on the sofa and the other on a smaller air mattress but they chose to do it this way). The place is some distance from the South entrance to Yosemite so if proximity is the most important criterion, this option may not be best; but the setting is beautiful and it is quite close to Bass Lake (gorgeous with patio boats for easy rental). The kitchen area has coffee, tea, condiments and other supplies; we brought along hamburgers and hot dogs to grill on the BBQ and that worked out well. In short, our two-night stay was most enjoyable; highly recommended!
My partner and I stayed at Bob's place in October 2014 and absolutely loved it! So much so, we've recommended it to anyone who mentions they're heading to Yosemite. Bob was very welcoming, the location was great and the accommodation itself was very homely. One of our favourite memories of the trip is sitting by the fire one night (great perk) with a glass of wine and yummy pizza from a takeout in the local village, when we heard footsteps behind us on the gravel (). Relieved to say it was only deer but the imagination can run 'wild' in such a location!
This charming loft is easy access to south entrance of Yosemite National Park and Bass Lake. Bob was such a great host quickly responding to many questions regarding the surrounding area. I highly recommend this wonderful place to friends and family.
Bob - Thanks so much for your recommendation to go to Taft Point, it was awesome and a gorgeous hike! I wish we had stayed longer.
