We stayed i this lovely hotel overlooking mt Kenya in Nov 2009. We found it to be comfortable and lovely especially for couples. We took a drive to the nearby sweet waters game park, and what a surprise! we saw more animals than in masai mara a year ago!. The Cottages are spacious enough, clean and cossy, the only fault is food wasnt as great , we were in full board package so they had set menu for every dinner, the food wasnt cooked well! if you put complicated food on the menu like duck confit then it needs to be done well sorry :-(. Breakfast was lovely though just what you expect in a normal breakfast buffet. Overall lovely place and great service as usual in Kenya.

Room Tip: Request for a cottage which faces mt kenya

It was amazingly beautiful!! So well maintained!! Very hospitable staff.

Everywhere you turn your eye its just beautiful. We must have clicked pics of every nook and corner- including the washrooms. Despite the heat in the afternoon its so refreshing... The weather gets really cold in the evenings..

the pool is so much fun. there is so much open space everywhere- u cant get tired of the place!! you can just take a walk and explore places.. There aren't many things to do.. but the place is so huge you can just go on walking and falling in love with the place with every step.

the food was also amazing!! We are vegetarians and veg options are difficult to get your hands on. But the chef made us special dinner (spicy) and as we had gone on requesting for spicy food, he even put some chilli in our desserts :P (refer pictures) I am not sure if he meant it as a joke or what.. but we took it well and some of us did enjoy the dessert also :)

There used to be strict dress codes and formal fine dining system, but they have done away with it probably because it doesn't work with most tourists in a mood to just relax- which is a good thing by the way..

I can go on about how splendid it was... it was a little heavy on the pockets for sure, but i would say totally worth it since we got back so many memorable pictures :)

Room Tip: Take the Cottages.

When we were on Safari to Kenya, we stayed for a day in Fairmont Mt Kenya Safari Club. The experience in the first hour was terrible. As we had arrived an hour before the check in time, they made us wait for that much of time. When we insisted on getting a room, they offered complementary drinks. When we refused that, they gave an alternate room. The check in experience was bad.

But the hotel was great. It had very spacious room. Excellent view of the Mt Kenya peak. The pool was clean. The restaurant was very good. The food had a good spread. The restaurant staff very sensitive to client demands.

The hotel has the Animal Orphanage nearby and they were courteous to guide us to that place. The Golf Cart at the hotel was useful for short distance travel.

The hotel has adequate amenities for families with kids, to entertain them.

Overall experience was good, except the check in delay

This was a 3 night stop in our Africa tour with Tauck Tours. Lovely subdued room decor, wonderful shower (rare for Africa), heavenly beds, beautifully kept grounds. Our group met each evening the the Zebar for drinks before dinner, the bar servers were prompt and friendly. There were native entertainers each night on the grounds. Dining room service excellent, although table d'hote menu same every night. The buffet breakfasts with omelet station, lunch with pasta station, lots of Indian foods, great pastries and desserts. We stayed in and ordered a cheeseburger from room service, it was delicious. Be sure to visit the Animal Orphanage on the grounds, you will not be disappointed.

This place is amazing .Serene, quiet situated in over 10o0 acres. We went there in early February with my husband and 5 month old daughter. From the moment we arrived, the staff were fextremely friendly and helpful. In particular Naftali(???) the front office Manager
Food- Great selection . I particularly liked the idea of the sitdown reservationstyle dinner instead of buffet in their lovely restaurants . There was also tea ad a selection of cakes serd from 4-5 in one of their restaurants.
Entertainment in the evening from a a local group.
Rooms- We booked a deluxe room but were upgraded to a Deluxe room with view of Mt Kenya. The rooms are superb. They have fabulous rainfall showers set in a glorius marble bathroom.
Price. Cost a little over 300 Euros per night which is quite steep in comparison to similar hotels around the world.
Actvities : Plenty to do. We went for a walk in the evening which was great for the little one. There are other activities as mentioned in other revews but we were only there for one night so did not get around to doing any of them.
A great place . Will definitely return but for more than just one night! Can't recommend it enough.

We stayed in the Safari club for two days and would have loved to stay a few more had our itinerary not been pre decided. From fantastic rooms to so many activities to keep you occupied. It was the perfect place for my family and I to spend two days recharging between Sweetwaters sanctuary and Masai Mara.
