Disappointed to find the hotel looks nothing like the photos. The views didn't exist as the hotel is surrounded by other buildings and construction. The photographed plants and greenery do not exist. Overall appearance was under-going work and tired and scruffy. Vang Vieng is not a pretty town, so this hotel was not out of place. Vang Vieng is also expensive, and Laos Haven was reasonably priced at £20 a room a night excluding breakfast. It was a large room, comfy bed and there was working hot water and a/c. The furniture in the room was old and beaten up. The bedding was also old and discoloured (but seemed clean enough). As others have said it is next to the night market, so can be a bit noisy - but earplugs can deal with this.

Michael: Thank you for taking time to review our hotel and sorry to disappoint you about the entire town that is currently going through a major upgrade to support the growing demand. We are also going through major renovation on our property to keep in line with the tourism growth in Vang Viang

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Room was nice and clean with a hot, powerful shower. The owner was very helpful and even pointed me in the direction of a alternative climbing company that was different to the one they promote at the hotel!

Hotel rooms are basic but clean. I didn’t like all of the signs and notices that said what the fines were for tearing a sheet, damaging a mattress, losing a towel etc although maybe the signs are just a sad reflection of the poor behaviour of travellers in Vang Vien.

Room Tip: Rooms are basic but clean and quiet. There is a pool on site but did not try it out. Lose all of the warning signs.

The hotel is well located next to the walking street / night market, and within very close walking distance to bars, restaurants and the river.

Check in was quick and straight-forward, with the staff being very helpful.

The room was slightly tired, although adequate. However where the hotel excelled was when we had a problem with our room later that night (10:30pm), they immediately re-allocated us to another room without question, and were extremely apologetic. The problem could have happened to any hotel, but the way that it was dealt with was exemplorary!

The pool was a very refreshing respite from the heat and was cleaned daily whilst we were there.

In response to other reviews, we had no issue with anything going missing from our rooms, although we did not ask for the room to be cleaned (we were only there for 2 days). We were not disturbed by any building improvement works either, although it does look as though the building is being spruced up to be a spa as well as a hotel.

All in all, a good base for our visit to Vang Vieng - whether you'd want to go there is a different matter ;-)

Think twice if you don't want to have your money STOLEN from your room! We booked the room too quickly without having read all the reviews well, but now it seems apparent that there is a serious PROBLEM in the hotel! After a quick investigation we saw a first comment about stealing from 2016 and seems that in two years NOTHING has improved. I had over 150 USD stolen. They will only tell you: you should have kept everything in the safe box, plus if you asked staff to enter your room to clean, the hotel is not responsible. They only look through CCTV for two minutes and the case is closed. DISGRACEFUL! At first after speaking to the owner I hoped my case will change something, but seeing so many repeated comments about ROBBERIES it seems stealing in Laos Haven is accepted. What a shame, beacuse the hotel really did have potential.

Michael: Every tourist should be conscientious and responsible for their cash and valuables at all time while traveling. Our hotel is extremely concerned about any guests’ losses while staying with us. We provide SAFETY BOXES in every room and we maintain a protocol to remind every guest during Check-In to be careful with their cash and please used the safety box to avoid unnecessary mishap.
Check-In guests are also asked to read & signed on the Registration Form with a paragraph in ENGLISH “Please be informed NEVER to leave monies or valuables unattended during your absence in your room. There is a Safety Deposit Box provided in all guest room for use. Please contact the hotel reception staff if you have difficulties opening the safety box. The hotel management cannot be held responsible for losses of cash or valuable during your stay due to your negligent or complacency “ There are also “ NOTICE “in every guest room to remind guest to safe keep their monies & valuables In the” SAFETY BOX”
To insinuate we condone” STEALING” is totaling preposterous after all our conceded effort in trying to prevent losses of monies or valuables for every guest. Sadly, in our business, we are always victimized by irresponsible & vindictive individual who in fact is a part of the cause in the event of a mishap.
Food for Thoughts, nothing did happened, just a "PLOT" by unscrupulous individual who created a situation for the purpose of seeking compensations
