Eraeliya villas sit in a quiet jungle sanctuary just 2 kilometres away from the hustle and bustle of Weligama. The property is situated adjacent to a beautiful tranquil beach with incredible views. We stayed in the Villa Muhudu Bella which is located at the corner of the property right next to the ocean. No surfing on property but the sound of the ocean cannot be beat. Our patio overlooked the sea where our breakfast and dinner was brought to us by our extremely friendly and conscientious server. The menu has numerous high quality and well thought out options, both of western and Sri Lankan influence. The architecture of each villa at this small boutique hotel is both unique and pleasing. Watching the garden staff climb the palm trees to prune the leaves was truly spectacular and provided a good sense of the incredible local work ethic. There is an abundance of wildlife on the grounds including birds, squirrels, lizards, and monkeys! Good value overall and would definitely go back.

Very beautiful and charming villas that you would not find anywhere else. Each villa has a unique story to tell. Highly recommend to art/design driven travelers who seek an authentic experience. The morning breakfast was very good. Food in the a-la-carte menu was mediocre - we ordered seafood pasta and it was too sweet. The internet wifi was not that strong, especially in Villa Ambalama and there was no mobile reception in the hotel area so you might have to walk to the main street. The staff was very hospitable and hopeful. Overall experience is good!

Room Tip: Villa Ambalama has shower / toilet outside so it might not be ideal for some travellers. Also the wifi is not good in the villa.

we were pleasantly surprised with how comfortable we were at this hotel.

It is advertised as a hotel, i believe it has 8 rooms? But it feels like your own private villa.

We traveled with our two kids, and they had a ball, making friends with the other few kids staying.

This hotel is right on the beach, this time of year isn't ideal for the south coast, but we new this and were prepared. The Weligama area has a lot to offer for entertainment such as surf lessons, whale watching, nearby tea plantations, turtle farms etc.

I have read reviews saying the food wasn't great - I disagree, I thought it was great and they also cooked meals off the menu for our kids. If you don't like it, it is easy to get a quick tuk tuk to an outside restaurant.

Also, doesn't serve alcohol, no problem - they help cater for alcohol with bottle openers etc. they just don't sell it. Again, a quick $3 tuk tuk ride away to get take away and enjoy in your room overlooking the pool at sunset.

Beautiful villas, fantastic service, very peaceful location with plenty of wildlife (saw turtles in the sea from the garden). Found the food to be excellent and staff very obliging. Pool and views were lovely. Couldn't say a bad word.
