The food was fantastic here, very reasonably priced and a simple ‘rice and chicken’ consisted of several different delicious dishes. Lala and his family were incredibly warm and welcoming, and great to chat with. The restaurant itself is attached to their home, which added to the authenticity of the Sri Lankan dining experience. Lala even drove us home in his tuktuk for a very reasonable price. A strong 5 stars... I hope to eat here again soon!

The best good in Sri Lanka, Shirani's food was very tasty...we kept coming back nearly everyday. She was so nice, at the end she gave me a jar of homemade chutney to bring back to UK.

The restaurant is set right outside the owners house with a good number of plants around. When we visited, there was no crowd and since there was not much choice other than rice & curry, we ordered the same with some prawns. All the food was pre-cooked and cold (served within 5 minutes of ordering) and it tasted kind of ok. Would have been much better if the food is cooked after ordering like all the other home made outlets do. Disappointed after travelling all the way from Weligama for this at night and that too in rain.

Shirani's is one of only a handful of eateries in the tiny village of Gurubibila and it is a good one. Shirani herself is a marvellous cook and her speciality is an amazing feast of red rice and eight or so curries. We ate there on alternate evenings over our nine night stay in the village and I adored the stomach filling, mouthwatering main course. But lunch is also delicious - try the mixed egg and vege noodles or the great roti with Dahl and spicy coconut sambol, nyom, nyom! Shirinai's husband Lala is one of the village's local characters. He has a very cool tuk tuk with surfboardracks and he can organise any kind of outing you like. As well he is a lovely guy and brother to Wasantha who runs the GH down the lane where we stayed. Great stuff.

We drove quite a bit to this place as we stayed in Ahangama but it was totally worth it. Run by a lovely family this place is as authentic as it probably gets in Sri Lanka. We had vegetarian rice & curry and it was the best we ever had during our three weeks in Sri Lanka! The staff is super friendly as well and even though this is not a fancy restaurant it was very clean.
