We stayed in Norwood bungalow for three nights during our honeymoon trip to Sri Lanka. A stunning and peaceful location to relax and unwind. The best place we stayed in Sri Lanka! The staff were so friendly and helpful and the food was amazing - both western and Sri Lankan. The trip to the tea factory was great and we explored the area using the trail maps. Just perfect!

Ultimate luxery in a fantastic scenery. This time stayed at Norwood bungalow. Visited many times and always spend a wonderful time. Very friendly and helpful staff. The food is magnificient and the rooms have plenty of space and every comfort you wish for. I most of the times stay here because of the Foundation activities of my tea company (fair-grounds .org), but also as a tourist (ie. your honeymoon) it is THE place to be. Fantastic panorama and options for various activitities like tea factory visit, hiking, crocket and cycling. When you come with a driver, there is a rest room for the driver in Hatton. All drivers are being taken care off there and have food and can stay the night.

As part of our week in Sri Lanka, I booked 2 nights at Tea Trails, not only based upon what i read on TA but also at the recommendation of a hotel general manager friend of mine. I went with very high expectations and they were all not only met but blown out of the water.
We were picked up from Hatton train station, driven to the Summerville bungalow, from where we were taken over the reservoir to our room, the Baker, at Castlereagh.
The magic begins when you see the beautiful reservoir, the bungalow peeking out from across the lake, and then the welcome from the butler and his team. Nilantha, our wonderful butler, made sure that nothing was too much trouble and pre-empted all our wishes.
The suite was beautiful and very tastefully decorated, the bathroom a colonial dream. As you sit on the terrace overlooking the swimming pool, you can imagine how things once were in times gone by.
The food was faultless and creative - our chef came round and advised his plans for the day, open to requests if something didn't appeal. Everything was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Portions are generous and served with a lot of pride and expertise.
The shared areas and the rooms are kept very clean, and the living room with fire light is a delight for pre or post-dinner drinks. We ate all meals on the terrace thanks to the lovely weather but the dining room looked amazing.
The staff makes the stay extra special - they were all wonderful and professional. The care they took of us was beyond anything I could have imagined. The setting is idyllic and whilst it does come with a price tag, I would return in a heartbeat for a special occasion.
The tea factory tour is informative and educational - another great bonus of our stay!
This is a perfect place for a few days of a honeymoon or other celebration. I left a piece of my heart there!

Room Tip: go on the website and study the bungalows to see which one you think would suit you best.

Tea trails comprises five bungalows in different locations overlooking Castlereagh Lake. We stayed at Castlereagh but understand all the bungalows have been renovated to the same standard. If they are, the owners are to be congratulated as they are beautifully renovated with large bedroom (with king bed and insect net, couch and chairs, desk, coffee table and plenty of room. The bathrooms are equally large and done in an old-style, traditional décor which is quite smart and in keeping with the rest of the bungalow. Add large meeting / relaxing rooms, a pleasant veranda and a superb garden and pool and you have a perfect resort. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was excellent and a credit to the chefs.

After hours on the road from Colombo, we arrive at the Tientsin bungalow situated in a paradise at 1250 meters of altitude.
Great environment surrounded by tea plantations, pure air, blue sky and a clear and sunny day.
For 2 days we have been pampered by fabulous staff that let us forget the busy cities.
Staff was attentive and professional. The Chef provide us with an unforgettable Sri Lankan curry.
The place took us back to the colonial times where cakes and scones are served at 5pm.
An excursion in the narrow roads took us to a beautiful tea factory facing a lake where Mr. Bernard gave us a complete lesson of how ceylon tea are being process. It reminds me how to serve tea with milk like my good old days in Mozambique.
Tea Trails is a must in a visit to Sri Lanka.
We shall return. Gonçalo and Mércia

Room Tip: No need to give suggestions .Everything is perfect.
