We frequent this place every second month. Food is always good and fresh.

On weekends a bit crowed but alway got a table.

When Preecha opened up next door the Rimhad owner sold up....he and the Preecha owner had history of sorts. The new owners have ripped out all the character of the old place..the thatched ceiling has gone and the warm yellow lighting. It now has a corrugated roof and looks like a car lot with flourescent lighting....the best staff were lured into working next door and that includes important kitchen staff. I should say that I have been there over 300 times! The food is not as well flavoured as before and the whole enterprise now lacks character. Of course it's full at weekends and public holidays but it's sad to see it near empty on an average weeknight....when we think how great it was for so long. If you want Thai seafood, this will be OK and will certainly be clean and fresh but reluctantly I'd say that Preecha next door is a better bet these days.

Authentic dishes and reasonable prices. Can recommend the steamed sea bass, rock lobster and the crab cakes. Gets VERY busy at the weekends and parking can be a chore but well worth a little inconvenience. Staff can be typically Thai but can always call upon an English speaker if needed to explain the menu / take the order if your party does not have a Thai speaker.

Generally speaking, Rimhad offers a great experience - sensational setting, friendly (although sometimes patchy) service and a typical Thai seafood menu. I have never been disappointed by the food, but on occasion it can be sensational. I know they have been in operation for years, yet still they suffer from some inconsistency. The menu is a book - it seems the locals like top have lots of choice. The problem is that that often some/many of the items are not available - you can see this when you walk in as many of the seafood tanks are empty. Despite this, Rimhad is still my favourite restaurant in Bangsaray - if you share, I guarantee that most of your choices will satisfy, but some may disappoint. I have always loved the steamed fish options, whether with lime, with soy sauce, or with fish sauce. The local oysters they offer, when actually available, are also good. And of course, the squid dishes - whether fried or grilled - deliver every time. But they should, as they are caught by the boats you can see as you admire the view. I would forget about anything they call "lobster" unless it is rock lobster - most lobster they serve comes from Phuket - and is frozen rather than fresh before preparation.

Despite my reservations, Rimhaad is highly recommended.

We have been going to Rimhad for lunch for several years but this is my first review. Without a doubt, this has to be one of the best seafood restaurants on the eastern seaboard. Everything is always FRESH, FRESH, FRESH and the preparation is remarkably consistent at each visit. The service is polite and speedy.

Today, we had an order of large grilled prawns, crab legs with the succulent, sweet crab meat already exposed and ready for dipping into the seafood sauce (a slightly expensive extravagance), tom yum soup w/large pieces of fish, a large crab fried rice (the best anywhere) and a delicate recommended stir fried vegetable. Rimhad's prices are generally reasonable for what you get but, with shellfish prices high everywhere, the bill came to USD 45---still a good price for what we had.

This is no white table cloth place. Rather, the old wooden plank floors and the tin roof add to the charm. The restaurant is on stilts above the water and the view from the tables is excellent with usually a nice breeze.

Rimhad is the last ocean-side restaurant at the northern most part of Bang Saray and is just before the arch for the walking street along the beach with all the local food and beach umbrella vendors. Fortunately, the customers are mostly Thai and the tour busses have not arrived as yet.
