A lot of rorbuer are being renovated, so I am not so sure if this gem is still off the beaten track. Totally worth to go there, and enjoy the stunning views.

This small village once a setlement for fish boats storage is now a well designed touristic resort but mantaining well present all the signs of this fishing traditions. A great place to explore.

This is a great example of places where you can see how other people live... Unless you are a Norvegian fisherman yourself. Seagulls fly above your head, north sea waves wash rocks... I was there when tourist season already ended. There is a restaurant on the entrance to the village, there are probably some houses (rorbyer) or rooms to rent... There is a parking lot above the village. Couple shops... Nothing else. Beautiful place.

One of our least enjoyable experiences on the Lofoten Islands, though the black and white silent film on the life of the fishermen was quite touching & informative and was a great complement to our earlier delightful visit to the Torrfisk museum in Å. (See separate review.)

Nearby hiking trail towards the lighthouse which ended in lovely views was fairly easy, though boggy and muddy in places after recent rains. At the divide in the trail, a turn to the right leads to the longer and more challenging hike to Nesland. When we were there the sign along the trail identifying the way to Nesland had disappeared though there was a sign and arrow at the intersection that said “Fiskersti”.

We attempted to have lunch at the onsite restaurant (Karoline) where staff was so occupied eating, drinking and socializing behind the bar that they didn’t have time to acknowledge and seat us. (See separate review.) We finally left and discovered a fantastic restaurant in nearby Ramberg. (See review for Ramberg Gjestegård.)

Its a really quaint charming old village secluded from the rest of the world. Lovely atmosphere! The road to the village is also breath taking!
