Everything's great, just the location far from town. If you have a car, its not a problem. Fantastic Views and Super comfotable bed with electric Blankets and in-room heaters.
The only issue is that the hot pool is not exactly hot, but warm so we didnt try as it was the starting of winter and there was only 1 pool in working condition.
One reason why I selected here is because of the hot pools... but everything else is great. So no complaints.
My wife and I stayed 9 nights at the Grand Mercure Oakridge Resort. The setting was breath-taking, with the mountain tops covered in snow and the trees with the various autumn leaf colours. The apartment we had was a 1 bedroom self contained on ground level. The bathroom has a heated floor and heated bath racks(a novelty for a Queenslander). The staff were fantastic and extremely helpful. The resort has several spa's and a heated spring pool. They were great to relax in. Dining at the restaurant was enjoyable, with great food and attentive service. There was an open log fire in the reception area as well as one in the lounge. The resort is a pleasant 3km walk to Wanaka (suggest hiring a car if you plan on doing some grocery shopping). The town has 2 care hire companies with very reasonable rates. The Lake is a magnificent picture in Autumn.
Such a lovely spot wish we had stayed 2 days not just 1 weather was lovely (very cold but clear) resort was lovely , breakfast was yummy and overall a lovely place
We had the 2 bedroom unit which was generally good quality, good sound proofing, but it would be a stretch to say that the view was anything exceptional.
The kitchen appliances are all excellent Fisher & Paykel products but the kitchen equipment is completely inadequate. Cheap pans that burn far too easily, no coffee plunger or equipment of any kind, and a complete dearth of simple things like kitchen scissors. I am absolutely sure that no staff person has actually sat down and thought about what should go in such a unit. Perhaps the ultimate nit-picky insult was that were only provided 2 days worth of dishwasher detergent packets - beyond that - and following a call to the front desk because proactive communication is non-existent in this place - we were informed that they cost 50 cents a packet. When guests are paying hundreds of dollars for a weeks stay - charging for this kind of thing is cheap and nasty.
While admittedly we were there in low season - neither summer or ski season - the hot pool services were generally poor. At least half had no water in them at all, the other two were luke warm at best and the one that was hot was hit and miss. In my mind the pools are not enough reason to book this location over another hotel or motel. Just not that good.
Finally the internet is just okay. It does allow for multiple device log-on with the one code (although not at the same time), but it is expensive $40 for 500 mb, which with two users and average usage (including Skype) we chewed through that in about 3 days.
Overall - good money has been spent by this company on the build, landscaping, and fittings. Day to day service and guest management is only adequate and at times it feels downright cheap.
