My husband and I have stayed at the Oakridge Resort many times over the past 12 years but our last stay in May will definately be our last. We are long time Accor Silver members and had booked to stay overnight.
Upon arrival we were given the key to a room which could only be described as sub standard for any paying guests. The room was built of corrigated iron, was extremely small with a very large hole punched in one of the walls that had been partially covered with a small mirror. The carpet was stained and the paint was peeling off the skirting boards. As the resort was less than a quarter of capacity I do not understand why this room was used for paying guests?.
The next morning we had breakfast in the dining room and were told by the staff member that we were the only people he had served that morning.
We had good memories of our past visits to Oakridge but it is sad to see that it has gone downhill so much since our last visit. Thank goodness we spent the following 7 days at the Mecure St Moritz in Queenstown where we know the standard will always be superb. .

We recently stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment for 2 weeks. The apartment was well appointed and the beds were very comfortable and included electric blankets. We had a gas fireplace which heated the apartment well. Our teenage boys particularly enjoyed relaxing in the hot tubs and heated pool before and after dinner. A mulled wine in the hot tub after a day of skiing was the perfect way to end the day. Jacks restaurant was fantastic and the staff absolutely beautiful people and so helpful. I highly recommend the current special of crispy skin salmon with mango sauce on asparagus...yum! We will definitely be back!

Wanaka is a beautiful town and unfortunately the Oakridge is extremely disappointing.
They charge like a 4 star hotel and talk up their facilities which are sorely lacking.
First off this is NOT a resort. It is a MOTEL, at best. You wouldn't mind if you were paying motel prices however they charge like a high end hotel.

It is a very weird setup. There is a common front door that opens to three seperate rooms. One downstairs and two up a very narrow steep staircase. Here lies the first issue, there is no "4 star" concierge to assist with bags so make sure your strong enough to lug your heavy suitcase up them yourself. There is no elevator option.

The room is tiny and by tiny I mean REALLY tiny. Think dorm. The neighbouring walls are paper thin and every conversation or movement of neighbours including urination can be heard as if they were in your room. You also hear the traffic and light beams in all night. The walls were dinged and marked. The room is inadequately heated.

The "king bed" is actually 2 singles pushed together and only 3 pillows not 4.
The TV is pathetic for 2017. It's an old analogue that is bulky and wall mounted around the corner from the bed so you crane your neck to watch it from bed. It makes this blaring "Atari" sound upon start up and shut down and there is no sky/cable. The remote was revolting and caked in grime.

There is nowhere to put your suitcases which remained on the floor further cluttering the tiny room. You cannot open the wardrobe properly due to the bed and bedside table and the fridge and bin are in the wardrobe - obviously an after thought. The fridge door cannot be opened beyond a crack because of the wardrobe door. There is no minibar (who pays the $$$ anyway) however this is usually standard in a 4 star property. There is no safe for valuables and other tripadvisor reports mention theft of items.

Now the bathroom, not too bad, large shower however globes had blown and not been replaced. You can't wash your face in the basin front on due to the weird mirrored cupboards location - again an after thought. The bin was grimy, 1 ply scratchy toilet paper and tatty linen. There were incomplete toiletries eg. shampoo but no conditioner. The toilet seat was also loose however I fixed that myself.

The rooms are also not serviced until 430-5pm - usually when most people return from the slopes/adventures to shower ready for dinner. I rang to complain about that as we needed towels and was told it's the norm!

Still have 2 nights left however we are moving to a real 4 star property - The Heritage in Queenstown.

Some of the things I mentioned seem petty and they are however I'm demonstrating why I believe it is nowhere near a 4 star rating. It is a glorified MOTEL at best.

I'm sure they will respond here with the same copy and paste apology about taking on board feedback blah blah but from the number of bad reports I've since read about this place they are yet to do it!

Room Tip: Do yourself a favour and stay elsewhere! You have been warned!

Our twin room was quite nice, good sized TV that you can plug your HDMI into, alongside a heater that's necessary in any room here! The wifi however was terrible, we went to reception quite a few times to get it fixed and they couldn't do it. We ended up using our phone data which added up quite quickly

Stayed in July, travelling for leisure.

This property is 10 minutes drive from lake Wanaka & is a little expensive compared to those situated near the lake however it is an ideal property for a family/ couples as the rooms have an apartment feel to it with a Kitchen and dining table inside the Room.
The only flaw is if you get an upper room, you would have to lift your bags up the stairs.
They have hot pools and even 3 smaller pools for couples The in room wifi speed was very good.
The staff were polite and welcoming.

Room Tip: Request for rooms closer to the Reception area.
