We went to Zanzibar for 10 days as a reward for climbing Kili. We weren't sure where to stay on the island and after some research, we decided to split our time between the east coast and north coast. Let me just say the north is WAY better. I wish we would've spent all of our 10 days at Sazani (instead, we just did 5). The photos don't even do it justice. The water is a breathtaking color that seems to be photoshopped...but it isn't. You want to pinch yourself every time you look at it.
We were greeted by the wonderful manager, Alif. He was welcoming and super friendly. You could tell he was passionate about the place and loved what he was doing. We left the place not just as guests, but as friends. Which is a rarity at a lot of hotels/lodges.
Because we came right before the start of high season, we had the resort pretty much to ourselves, which was AH-MAZ-ING. Our room was super spacious, immaculately clean, and had great views of that gorgeous water. Even better? You got to fall asleep to the sounds of the waves. Best thing ever! In the morning, we woke to tea on our front porch. Every morning.
Sazani has its own bar and restaurant, which made us not really want to leave the lodge...because we were lazy and the food was delicious and affordable, plus you had an awesome view. For lunch and dinner, they feature three options (including a vegetarian one, which is perfect for the veg head in me). They change the options every day so you don't get bored or stuck with things you don't like.
The beach is super private and clean (unlike the other beaches we saw) and you only have to walk a few steps to dip into the refreshing water.
As selfish as I want to be and keep this place all for myself, I can't recommend it enough. Do yourself a favor and book a day at Sazani. Just one day...and then you'll stay for 12. Thanks, Alif for the amazing time.
