Great place to experience most things local all in one place. Spend some time and a little money and enjoy the local sellers and buyers.

“Interesting experience”
Reviewed 17 March 2012

This wednesday market is an interesting experience with all the animals and other rural product that are changing owners. If you are very sensibel and care for animals it might bee to difficult to see how they treat the animals though.

“an enjoyable rural experience!”
Reviewed 6 July 2011

Malatapay Market is a once-a-week outdoor gathering of local produce and other products called TABO in the Visayan Region and similarly conducted by other Philippine towns . We went out of curiosity and it turned out to be an exciting experience! The street is full of stalls selling everything local. There is even a videoke booth! But what we enjoyed most was choosing our food from the many vendors ofering fresh fish cook the way you like it. We also enjoyed the lechon ( charcoal-roasted pork)! We rented a table close to the beach (not in the huts, too stuffy!) and was served like royalty by this sweet old lady (Ning Ramos) who owned the table (look for her - her table is right infront of the posters of Apo Island). Afte the hearty meal, we walked thru the stalls looking at their wares. People were so friendly and enjoyed being photographed! Don't miss this! It happens only every Wednesday!

“wednesday market full of farm products and native food”
Reviewed 19 October 2009

This market can be found if someone goes to Apo island on a Wednesday because this place is leading up to the Malatapay wharf where people get outrigger boats to Apo island. The main thing here is you can buy fresh farm produce cheaply, eat local cuisine on an ordinary Filipino setting (toro2x) with the crunchy lechon and it can be quite entertaining to watch people buy and sell carabaos, horses, chickens, goats, etc., but of course you have to be ready for some foul smell if you get near the place where they keep these animals. This only happen on Wednesdays tho. So if this sort of activity is new to you then it can be fun to experience, for sure the fish that they cook there is always fresh.
