The hotel is located in peaceful countryside 20mins from Modica and 40min from Noto ( Ragusa not much further but haven't gone on this trip) making it a good base to do touring. The hotel is 2 buildings, one single story each with a patio with a table and lounger and the other double story where there are 2 suites and the restaurant and reception.
We booked the suite so we could have a separate room for our baby boy in his cot. The suite is a good size, the indoor shutter black out the room (good for baby naps) and door to the bedroom closed so it was a proper suite vs just having two separate areas. The downside to the room is that like many hotels in Italy, soundproofing just isn't a consideration and normally it is just one layer of brick between you and the next room....and in this case the restaurant and reception. I am sure this wouldn't have been an issue but on our first night the hotel was hosting dinner for about 25 people and the restaurant was right below our room. Needless to say, we didn't even think about getting to bed until 11pm but it was well past 11:30 before things were quiet and it didn't sound like the party was in our room. When guest are at reception you can hear every word in the front room of the suite and only with the door closed to the bedroom do the voices get muffled. If we didn't need a suite, I certainly would prefer one of the double rooms in the other building and ask for one on the end. The furnishing at the hotel are fine and the bed was comfortable enough.
The grounds are nice but un-manicured but there are lovely lemon trees and palm on the grounds. The pool is very small and is the same depth. There are plenty of comfy loungers with umbrellas but the stone around the pool is very uneven....basically it isn't a pool/pool area for small children. There are tables on the grounds to enjoy the breeze and evening light and there is a nice courtyard between the 2 buildings which also has tables where you can have a meal.
The big surprise was the quality of the meals. We ate here 2 nights and were impressed both nights with the quality of the pasta courses and meat courses...and 30 euro fixed prices was very fair for the number of courses and quality. The breakfast buffet was also very good.
The staff could not have been nicer and more helpful and really added to our experience and made our stay very relaxing and pleasant despite the noisy first night. They certainly did their best to accommodate us and were very genuine in their efforts.
To sum it up, very good marks for food and staff and good marks grounds and average for rooms.

We expected a lot from this hotel and I must say that we were not disappointed at all.

Giving that we reserved a weeks stay early in the season, the hotel was not completely up and running yet (swimming pool was closed and the porch areas of the normal rooms were a little affected by the weather). We addressed our concerns with the staff (with our two kids of 2 and 5, we kind of relied on the pool area being up and running) and we were pleasantly surprised that the whole place was "fixed" in two days: pool area cleaned up and porches all got a fresh layer of paint and Cambiocavallo was as much alive as the pretty pictures they advertise with!

We booked one of the two very luxurious and excellent suites. Design was thoughful (especially the bathroom) and the suite was very much in synch. A delight to relax, work and sleep in. The staff was also helpful and great with our kids and served a delightful breakfast every day.

If Cambiocavallo tries to position itself as a hotel, it could expand on a number of services like wireless internet, restaurant service (they do serve a variety of excellent late suppers) or a small playground for kids, but if you can do without those, your absolutely set here. If you plan to book a romantic weekend there, you can't go wrong! And at last and maybe foremost, I believe Cambiocavallo can be the perfect place if you and your friends want to celebrate something, like a club-weekend or wedding or (small) family reunion. You can do it in style and total relaxation!

We stayed for one night at the Cambiocavallo, superb location, rooms carefully designed with italian design bathroom. In the moring you take a jump in the pool surrounded by olive trees. The staff is very friendly, excellent breakfast, great service. The only minor point is that it is situated along a mainroad to the little town of Modica, so if possible request a room at the back. It used to be a rest place for horses but the owner/ architect converted it into a small design hotel. Beaches are very close and there are great restaurants in Modica, Torre 'd Orient is a fantastic restaurant with a great view over Modica.

This is a strange B&B. We arrived in the early eveining and it was like trying to get into Guantanamo - locked gates and doors everywhere. The hotel is on one of the major roads in Sicily but miles from anywhere, and isn't really a hotel at all. The staff don't appear to live on site (all the common parts were locked up after 9.30pm) you need to think beach chalet bugalow rather than hotel room. Our room was very damp smelling, and the showers were awful - water goes everywhere, and doesn't drain away which is irritating. It is a soulless place and being such a great area I'm afraid that there are many better places to stay,. The staff were nice though and it was a good breakfast, but it's not what I would call a boutique hotel or indeed a hotel at all.

the country house is located in a beautiful place, surrounded by mediterranean trees and plants: rooms were quite nice but too noisy, you can hear every single breath of you neighbour since the walls were very thin; breakfast was poor: low quality products bought in the discounter supermarket close to the hotel...we expected home made products (at least, some) and organic food , we were in a unesco protected area so we thought the staff would have made some more effort for the quality of food. price was too high in comparison with the hotel offer, very over rated. big potential, but absolutely not properly managed.Staff was quite helpful but , in the meantime, lazy.

Hotel Cambiocavallo is a brand new four star hotel in the countryside just south of the baroque town Modica and about 4 km from the small beach town Pozzallo. In fact, a pool and more rooms will be added at the end of this year. I also think that a restaurant is planned.
What is most beautiful about the hotel is its tasteful styling. Two local architects own this place and chose to give it a clearly modern look and feel. They also added local, rustic elements (bamboo ceilings, stone walls, beautiful colors) that make rooms, lobby as well as the outside courtyard looking and feeling cozy at the same time. The bathrooms are beautiful, suites feature a whirlpool. The floors are made of wood and feel warm to the touch.
But what is a nice hotel without friendly, hospitable people? The hotel director Enrico Caruso and his staff are terrific. We have rarely encountered such heartfelt, genuine hospitality.
We are looking forward to seeing how Cambiocavallo will keep developing.
When touring the baroque towns of Noto, Modica and Ragusa this hotel is in a great location.
