The most beautiful restaurant!
We visited here whilst staying in the Borgo Petrognano opposite. The staff are so friendly and helpful but I fell that another staff member would be good as service was slow when the restaurant was busy.

The setting is beautiful with a gorgeous garden setting and the tables are decorated beautifully.
The cats and dog are friendly but dont harrass you and the owner said straight away that they were friendly as we walked in with kids and she checked often that we were ok (the kids adored the animals and wouldnt leave them alone)

There is a great kids park so we never seen the kids all night - had to drag them back for dinner :)

Saying that, they do not have a kids menu and the food on the menu was a bit fancy for the kids. But I did ask the waiter and the chef was more than happy to make a spag bol for the kiddies.

The beef was amazing as was the antipasti starter. The sea bream was great and the mushroom risotto was fab too.

We visited 3 times during our stay and enjoyed all of them. Such great value for money and the wine was great too.

Cant wait to go back

We were staying across the street and lucky for us, this was a good restaurant because we did not want to travel too far for dinner. We ended up eating there twice, and had some great wine and food. to try something different, I tried the pigeon and it was excellent. We even made friends with the cat.

This was the nearest restaurant to the villa we stayed in 'Borgo Petrognano' just a 5 minute walk away, the owners and staff are very friendly and the food superb, we visited three times during our stay, the place is large, it has beautiful gardens and a kids area, well worth a visit.

We had not been to this restaurant for many years. So many of our favourite restaurants in the Chianti area have closed their doors in the last couple of years. We had heard from residents in the area that this restaurant was still in the same family hands and that the quality of the food and the service was still very good, though there were no more white gloved personnel carrying silver-dome-covered dishes to the table. Not being fans of "Gigi" this was a positive step to our minds. Prices were also not as high.
We decided it was worth another visit to see for ourselves.
The garden is still beautifully romantic with sweet scented roses in abundance. The service is attentive but not overbearing. We were 5 persons who each ordered a small entree, a main and a dessert each. A generous amuse bouche was offered by the house to accompany the ordered pro-secco. We all ordered a salad as entree. For the main dish, four ordered the beef tartar, prepared with great attention and skill at the table; one ordered a mixed grill and vegetable dish. Both dishes are excellent. The beef tartar took the prize though. The desserts on offer all sounded superb. At our table, cheese cake and cream brûlée won the day. Once again, not one adverse comment. Truly lovely home made desserts.
We had selected a Tuscan Cabernet- Franc as our red wine which we all voted the best of our holiday selection to date (at Euro 50.00 more expensive than some but worth every extra Euro). The meal was rounded off by a grappa for the men. The bottle was brought to the table and left there to serve ourselves - a good grappa, it should be noted!
These quality dishes, excellent wines and grappa, attentively served, cost each of us Euro 45.
A top notch restaurant in a beautiful summer garden. Full marks.
The only negative for some visitors could be that the owners' cat and dog roam the garden.

If you come in this season, you will immediately notice the wonderful roses everywhere in the restaurant gardens....simply stunning! We had dinner in the small tower which is definitely charming and very cozy. Food is very good and portions are huge. Their antipasto platter is truly big and filling (tempura veggies were a bit salty, othern than that...perfect!) so don't be greedy and share it, so you can try more of their food :-). Didn't try the dessert but will do next time. Luckily I don't live far! Service was good and friendly.
