Romitorio di Serelle

Just how beautiful, serene, and romantic this place is. As soon as we arrived, and checked out our room (La Tinaia), my wife and I both remarked that no matter what words we say, or how many pictures we show, we will never be able to convey the feeling of looking out over the vineyards, olive groves and forests of the Chianti area, the town of San Donato off in the distance, the peace and solitude. Another reviewer has already described RdS as Heaven on Earth. Indeed.
Opening the bedroom window in the morning (see picture) actually took my breath away.

The restaurant is excellent. Great four course meals (fixed menu). Each night was a different and new surprise. At 26 E a plate, plus another 20 - 30 for wine (some of it grown "in that vineyard, right over there" you are dining al fresco, overlooking sunbathed vineyards as the sun sets. Beat that!

Marco, Lorella, Roberto and various other family members (and 2 cats) were all gracious hosts. Never intrusive, but by the end of the week, you almost feel like family. No wonder several of the other couples there were repeat visitors ( one couple on their sixth visit!).
As well during the week, you get to meet interesting people from all over the world, partake in a wine tasting event, and best of all, relax and unwind under the Tuscan sun.

We will be back,

What an incredible Tuscan experience! We loved staying at the farmhouse...exquisite views all around, beautiful landscaping, gracious hosts, incredible food... Marco and Lorella are welcoming and accommodating. Roberto served us the most amazing meals, always with smiles and kindness. And the friendly groundskeeper and cook are of course greatly appreciated as well. The Romitorio di Serelle is conveniently located in the heart of Chianti, making daily excursions to various towns in Tuscany very convenient. We loved Castellina -- the closest Tuscan Hill town. Traveling to Sienna, San Gimignano, Radda, and Florence are easy day trips. Great pool for the kids after a day of exploring. Highly Recommend!!

The setting, overlooking vineyards, is spectacular. The apartments were neat, clean and spacious. The management could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Our evening meals were amongst the finest we experienced in all of Italy. Easy travel by car to other areas in Tuscany. The swimming pool was most relaxing.

What a beautiful spot to unwind. We had Rosemarino apartment, 2 bedroom,2 bathroom complete with patio table and chairs. The only downside were the beds being extremely hard compared to what we are used to. The food was great as was the service. The pool was clean with lots of loungers.
The road is windy (but paved) and once into town, you have access to the freeway and all the neighboring sites close by. Going the other way on the windy road takes you to towns such as Castellini and Greve.
Look forward to booking our next stay there.

This is a place that gave us what we call "a total experience". Everything was so great! The location on top of the Tuscan hill with wineyards and forests surrounding it, the smell of roses, lavender and rosemary, the beautiful well-restored buildings, the service from Marco and Roberto, the great food, the wonderful wine... We came stressed and worried from our busy lives and went home as new and happy persons - just what we needed!

For lunch we drove to Castellina in Chianti only 15 minutes away, where the restaurant Torre was our favourite - please do try the ravioli with truffle sauce! Else it was easy to travel to all other nice towns like San Gimigano and Siena.

The reason for giving sleep quality a 5 and all the rest a 6, is only that the beds are a lot harder than what we are used to at home :-). But we just went for a walk in the morning and then a bit of swimming in the pool - and the body was back to normal.

We already know that we are going back to Romitorio again!

Pros: We had a bright and shiny apartment overlooking the entire Chianti region. The living room/kitchen was cheery and light and had all the things needed. The bedroom was large and plenty of storage, and a window overlooking the vineyards and the hills beyond. The bath was nice with a good shower. We had our own little outdoors table and chairs with the same stupendous view, which we used to watch the sunset each night. The place was quiet and comfortable for the six days we were there.
The staff, Roberto and Marco, were very pleasant, and recommended great places to eat and see. The main building has a gorgeous common area with a big terrazzo, and its own restaurant and wine cellar. It had well–manicured lawn and gardens, good lawn furniture, and a nice swimming pool which was well maintained and clean. We ate at the in–house restaurant twice, and although it was a set menu, the food was excellent and well prepared and the cost reasonable.
Cons: It is a long way from any town, 15-20 minutes by car, so shopping, eating out etc., do require planning and driving. Otherwise, a great and peaceful place to stay.

This agriturisimo is really as pretty as it looks on the internet and has all the Tuscan charms. A wonderful and romantic spot to relax. Having said that, Tuscany is so beautiful and has so much to offer that Romoitorio de Serelle really isn't all that special in hindsight. In fact, we were not particularly sad to be leaving at the end of our 2 nights stay because we felt more like intruders on the property staff instead of welcomed guests. The whole feel of the agriturisimo is very commercial and business like; and lacks any warmth or real hospitality. One night the heating was on. The next night, it was off. No notice. If we want to turn it on, it would cost us about Euro 50. This is despite the information folder we received expressly stating that our accommodation costs include heating. When we checked out, there was no questions about whether we were satisfied with our stay or pleasant chit chat. Just one question - "Do you have a copy of our brochure"? So if you are after a warm Italian agriturisimo/farmhouse experience, this is not for you.
