Me, my partner & our 21 month old daughter came here for lunch as it's the best place in Porthmadog, we had jacket potatoes with cheese & beans each which we shared with our daughter plus a mug of coffee plus a pot of tea while watching the trains go in & out of the train station plus there's a good view of the beach. It was so good me & our daughter had a jacket potato with cheese 3 days later before going from Porthmadog to Ffestiniog on the railway. Jacket potatoes are £4.95 with 1 filling & £1 for extra fillings

I haven't been to this cafe for 30 years and it is much improved and apparently recently refurbished. Varied menu and also a children's menu provided. Yummy desserts too! Reasonably priced. Would go again.

This is a very popular place to be with a very good selection of food & drink on offer. The staff are friendly & polite, the café is clean & tidy & well set out.

Ate here one evening, and the food was fine. Service a bit patchy particularly at the bar, not enough staff and some evidence they would rather serve locals.

Good afternoon, thank you for the review and really glad that you enjoyed the lamb! I am sorry that you did no think the service was as good as it could be, it would definitely not be the intention of the bar staff to seem as though they favour the locals but I will feed it back to them.

Spooners Bar and Grill does good basic food well, it's on the platform of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway at Porthmadog, plenty of tables outside on the platform where if you have a dog you're welcome to sit and have dinner. No dogs allowed inside unfortunately, maybe something that will change as progress eats in to the Grill...
For those who love steam, you can watch a variety of locomotives and carriages pass by and stop in the station as you sit at your table. It's a friendly place and other customers are always willing to strike up a conversation. We raised an eyebrow in our last visit though when one couple got up and as they walked out the "gentleman" let one rip! We laughed at their coarseness, the lady looked a bit smashed, I suppose they were enjoying themselves and hadn't been brought up very well.
I would definitely recommend a meal or two here if you're in the area, other eating establishments aren't so good.

Hello, thank you for your review and glad that you enjoy eating with us and recommend people visit whilst in the area. It sounds like you have seen some interesting characters during your visits! It was a tough call for us to disallow dogs inside as they used to be welcome and it was through constant feedback from our customers that we had to make the decision so apologies for that. We look forward to seeing you next time!
