While staying in the area with family we were looking for somewhere to eat after experiencing the Steam Train to Blaenau Ffestiniog. We had been recommended the 'Australian' pub on the main road so initially went there, there was no welcome to speak of and when asked for a table to eat the barman just shrugged at us. After walking around for 20 mins, thankfully Google found this pub. Just off the main road so not as prominent as it should be and would never have known of not for the internet. Menu looked decent so we entered and were greeted immediately by Chrissy, shown to a table and given brilliant hospitality straight away.
Chrissy took the time to talk us though the menu and make recommendations (she recommended the cheese pie that was her own recipe) my dad was immediately sold and he said it was fantastic.
Chrissy took the time to chat with ud and make a fuss of my 2 year old nephew which he loved.
She made recommendations and endorsed all of the food we ordered, drinks were served quickly and food too.
The food is really fantastic, real home cooked comfort food. We had beef lasagne, goats cheese lasagne, cheese pie, fish and chips and a kids sausage and chips and a side of loaded veg chilli chips. The food was outstanding, piping hot and beautifully presented. Portion sizes very generous too.
All the way through our visit Chrissy was popping by to check we were Ok. We were so stuffed we couldn't manage dessert but the menu choices looked fantastic.
So glad we found this little gem, we will certainly be back and absolutely recommend everyone to visit if you're in the area.
Thank you Chrissy for a lovely dining experience and also to your son who you told us was the chef that day. Beautiful food with brilliant service.xx

We enjoyed the food and alcohol here but there was something lacking. The place was a little dark and service was not very inviting (eg, after the main meal, we were brought our bill without being offered desserts).

We were so impressed with the quality & quality of the food/menu that we dined in twice. On the second visit there was live music which added an extra special experience for two Aussies travelers wanting to immerse in the local Welsh culture.

We had a roast on 2 July which was very good with plenty of veg and good value at £8.95. It was available in the evening up until possibly 8pm. Beer was a bit disappointing but real ale may not keep so well in the heat wave. Jennings Cumberland and Doom Bar were available. Service was good too.

We were here on a Sunday and went inside thinking of just a dri g to cool off. We saw a few plates of Sunday Roast going by and thought we would have a go at it. Well it was good from start to finish. I wish we could have stayed for the live music.
