My husband and I just spend 3 nights in The Get Away Suite - and it was really, really nice! Cozy rooms, very friendly hosts - and beautiful nature surrounding the place. It was very quiet and peaceful. Just what we were looking for. We can highly recommend Grape Escape! Best wishes from Mia and Michael, Denmark

For two years in a row my husband and I enjoyed George and Gerri's boundless hospitality as we toured the region during the fall wine festival. Gerri's spectacular cooking and willingness to accomodate our dietary idiosyncrasies made mornings a delight. The freshest of eggs and garden produce served creatively each day. You can taste the love she has for her chickens in each egg. :)
We were privileged again this past year to be invited to share some of George's excellent wine before we went out to dinner and enjoyed catching up on their travels abroad during the past year. Gerri goes to great lengths to keep both the Get Away and the House suite in immaculate condition and we appreciate her fastidiousness. The high light of the stay for me this year was the early morning soaks in the hot tub surrounded by light fog, the sounds of the birds and low clouds hanging on the ridge. Idyllic despite the poor fall weather that was wasn't helping to bring the grapes in.
Gerri & George are the most generous of hosts who go that extra mile to make their house a home while you stay with them. Special touches in the evening when the room is turned down and even an offer to drive us to and from dinner one night shortly after the new blood alcohol law was passed show how much they really care for their guests. They will always be my first contact when staying in the region and look forward to sharing their home and company again in the future.

We loved the Getaway suite here, and the food was absolutely amazing. The property is well maintained, beautiful and quiet. Unfortunately, the houserules would be the only reason we would not return. We never quite felt comfortable in the place, and never knew what 'friendly reminder' notes we would come home to when we left for the day. Gerri and George are wonderful hosts, but did make us feel uncomfortable about the 'mistakes' we made (putting the cutlery in the sink, going into the hottub with a bathing suit that "must have" had a trace of sunscreen on it as I was reprimanded because there is a new film in the hot tub that will be very difficult to clean). I very much understand how difficult it must be to maintain a bed and breakfast, and we kept it at the same standard we would keep our home (high), but for $200/night (with 2 small dogs) it was slightly unreasonable to expect perfection and to feel as if we were walking on egg shells. That said, they did share wonderful wine with us made from their winery, gave us a tour, and even woke up early to prepare us a wonderful pre-Ironman breakfast. We very much appreciated that, and have nothing but praises to sing to the chef.

There are some false statements in this review. Perhaps because they waited almost three months to submit the review, they forgot some of the details. Firstly this couple paid $175 a night with two dogs, not $200.

We would never leave a note about cutlery in the sink. What I did leave a note about was reminding them not to allow dogs on the bed which I suspected had happed by the amount of dirt on the blanket. They had agreed not to allow the dogs on the furniture. I should have spoken to them and not left the note.

Thirdly, the Okanagan is a water sensitive area and to empty the hot tubs because people foul the water is not only extremely wasteful, it takes time between guests to do so. So, we always ask people not to wear apparel in the hot tub that has any oil or sun tan lotion and to have a hot water and soap shower before entering. We asked them if they had any idea what they had introduced to the hot tub because of the fine, film coating that was left on the bottom and which I couldn't seem to remove. I thought that if they could identify the substance, I could try getting rid of the film without having to empty the tub, which is what we had to do after they left.

We love having guests stay and have a large number of repeat guests each year. We have also cut back on our advertising because we get so much word of mouth business. I'm sorry these folks were left feeling uncomfortable, we do our best to make our guests feel welcome and at home on this unique property.

This is, by far, the most wonderful B & B we have ever stayed in. Gerri & George are hosts par excellence and the setting is truly exceptional. We stayed in the "Get Away Suite" and from the moment we arrived until we left this was a marvellous and relaxing place to be. Gerri's breakfasts were simply outstanding and after being there for a whole week she never repeated the menu, once. Everything she served us was grown just outside the door and could not have been fresher. We have, in previous years, travelled to hike in France or Italy but for various reasons decided to stay closer to home this year. Our holiday had all the pluses of going to a European destination but we didn't suffer jet lag! We had a perfect vacation. The suite was appointed with everything one would need, and a lot of things you didn't know you needed until you saw them and could appreciated the thoughtfulness of the two delightful and absolutely charming hosts. We will definitely plan to return next year.

We had a lovely two night stay here and although the weather was not at its best this B&B was superb. Lovely spacious room with a King Size Bed overlooking the valley through probably a 12ft x 6 ft window. Owners very friendly and we were treated to being invited over to the main house for a glass of wine that had come from their own vineyard and very nice it was too. Highly recommended. Little bit of the beaten track but well worth the drive.

Set in the hills just outside the town of Summerland, this vineyard/farm vacation home is a pure delight. The vineyard and garden provide a lush and nurturing rural backdrop to Gerri's amazingly delicious, bountiful and beautiful breakfasts; George's knowledge and experience in grape growing and wine making makes it educational and informative. The attention to detail is exceptional. The hospitality - authentic and generous. It's a great value too- a unique vacation suite or studio with beautiful touches- books, antiques, art, style and delicious food, beautifully presented. I could not have asked for anything more. We went as a girls' week of adventure- it's great for couples too, or singles who are looking for something unique, authentic and exceptional. This met my every expectation and more. I look forward to returning.

When we booked our getaway at the Grape Escape, I knew we'd be in for a treat because of the wonderful reviews I've read - but we were completely BOWLED OVER! From the absolutely gorgeous suite, to the wonderful views, fantastic breakfast (never ate lunch!), and such hospitality - it could not have been a better stay.

When the reviewers say to take Geri up on her offer for tea, DO! They are wonderful hosts - we thoroughly enjoyed chatting in their beautiful living room, and taking a tour of George's winery. By far the best winery tour we had while we were in the Okanagan. Geri made dinner reservations for us, helped us map out which wineries to visit, and brought us a lovely glass of cherry brandy while we relaxed in our private hot tub.

Summerland is the perfect place to be to enjoy BC wine country - and the Grape Escape is the perfect place to call home while you are there!
