We decided for this hotel because it makes part of the association "Roteiro de charme". If you arrive at the aiport of Porto Seguro you need a transport service to the hotel (can be combined with the recepetion of the hotel) or you rent a car. The easiest way from Porto Seguro to Arrial d'Ajuda is to take the ferry. IAfterwards it takes some more time driving through the small streets of Arrial d'Ajuda to the hotel, located at the beach of Pitinga at the south end of the village. Unfortunately there is no hotel transport to the center of Arrial d'Ajuda (with all the restaurants and shops), which means that you need a taxi each time with costs of R$20 each simple tour (!). Walking in the dark was not recommended by the hotel staff due to local crime problems.

The hotel property is really charming with a nice and very well treated tropical garden and a lot of coconut trees. There are quite a lot of birds to observe. The pool is small, but nice and the best is that there is no chemical treatment of the water. As a consequence showering before entrance is mandatory. The hotel is located in front of the beach, and it is higher as the beach level. This means stairs are necessary to got down. But this is not bad, because it gives privacy to the hotel guests. Beach sellers rarely come up. It gives also a beautiful view on the sea. The sea is a kind of pool, but with stones and not so nice for bathing, but you can observe from the deck of the hotel the sea turtels, which is wonderful. If someone wants to swim, I would recommend to walk on the beach a little more in direction south (Trancoso), just around the next corner, the beach there is much better for swimming. The hotel owner are on the "green line",with separation of garbage, no acceptance of one-way-bottles etc..

The accomodations are in small, two floor chales, each floor has one appartement with bathroom, individual deck including a hammock and a fridge. Aircondition is also available, unfortunately the old, loud system (one of the reasons why the rating is only very good and not excellent). TV is only available in a common lounge. The cleaning staff is friendly and doing a good job.

The breakfast buffet is great with a good variety of products. The quality of the restaurant is also good, unfortunately it was only open during lunch time. The bar keeper is the best, he did the best Caipirinhas in my life, really especial (and it is not that I never had any before!). I hope that he will continue at the hotel, he is really a add-value to the hotel. His name is Joao. He is gentle and knows about service.

Conclusion: The hotel is very nice, as well as the location. Honeymooners should try it out. We recomend it! There should be done some improvement in the aircondioners, transport to the center and the restaurant mangement could be more flexible with orders (especially if the hotel is not fully booked).

Room Tip: Try the chales in front of the sea

Pousada Pitinga is an amazing surprise in every single detail. First of all, the place is really beautiful: it's located in front of the beach and surrounded by tropical gardens.
The rooms are very comfortable with a lovely terrace (sorry, TV lovers: you can only watch outside the room). The small pool is perfect for hanging out on the sun while drinking caipirinhas.
The staff is always kind and make you feel at home. Attention: you are in Bahia, so the clock runs slower than anywhere else. :-)
The restaurant serves very well for regional snacks and dinner. Don't need to spend money at the village.
Wifi is available only at frontdesk. Definetly something that the owner should worry about.
Highly recommended to anyone that wants to disconnect for a while. It's a small oasis at the beach.
