Based on previous reviews and the motel’s website, we had low expectations that were unfortunately met. On the positive side - the kids loved the novelty of staying in the tail of a plane - so I’m glad we stayed for that alone, but wouldn’t go back now we’ve checked it off our list. The whole complex is extremely run down. The chemical smells inside the room were pretty unpleasant, despite the motel warning of this on their website I wasn’t expecting it to be as bad as it actually was. The doorway into the plane and through into the double bed is extremely low, and accidentally bumped our heads into steel on several occasions. Living space was tiny with a very small kitchenette - definitely could not cook in there easily and opted to go down the road for dinner instead. The bathroom floor was covered in water after showers. Whenever the family staying in the cockpit part of the plane moved around, the whole plane shook - and I’m sure vice versa. All in all - go for the novelty factor but keep expectations extremely low.

Our group of five enjoyed our one nights stay here. We were comfortable in the train unit and appreciated having the area around the unit just for us. We had a nice view down to a creek and fields and there was space for the kids to explore and play. The unit was clean and roomy enough (surprisingly). The only downside was that there was no shelter from the hot afternoon sun for the table and chairs outside. It was not a problem to drag the chairs to a shadier spot, though, and hopefully the owners will soon replace the umbrella that can provide some shade. In the morning this was a great place to sit and enjoy the views.

Our family of young adults were delighted to find themselves staying in a Hobbit Hole over night. The external recreation of Bilbo's home and pretty garden were very good. Inside it was comfortable but really just an ordinary hotel room. I'm glad we did it if only for the kids' reactions. They really enjoyed this special experience.

We were told our towels would be replaced if left on the floor....they were not! Needed to leave on the floor too as the floor flooded when you had shower! The curtains were operated with pull chains and most did NOT lower straight and properly! Feel the plane accommodation is long overdue for a revamp and not worth the $180 per night I paid! Also could hear something scratching behind head of double bed in middle of night(sounded like rats.... which petrified me)
