Not a good start when Simon the co-owner gently admonishes me for choosing beer over his wines "that have been specially selected to complement the menu". A little pretentious I thought and not the most welcoming of greetings. The food was great without exception bar the pepper sauce for the steak. Both Wendy and Simon disagreed with our joint view that the sauce was too salty to eat. Our view of what the sauce should have looked and tasted like were poles apart from theirs. Wendy offered me an alternative but I declined - the steak was delicious without any sauce. I could understand that Wendy and Simon work very hard to make this a great place to dine but I wish they were a little more relaxed about it. They deserve success - it is a great restaurant serving great food with passionate owners. All they need to do is make all their guests feel welcome unreservedly no matter what their tastes.
