I felt like getting away from the City Stress and just exhaling and decided to try Mimosa Lodge. Warm reception and my room was amazing. Spacious and clean and most of all.....so serene. They also offer a dinner experience created by a world renowned chef. Surrounded by Trees and tranquility and very close to Town if you need to visit the shops, etc. Well done Mimosa Lodge, we left feeling so refreshed.

Mimosa Lodge offers dinner to their overnight guests, but also takes in guests from outside, You are welcome from 7pm, when Bernie -your host- pours you a drink. Dinner service starts at 7.30pm and there is a set 4 course menu. Of course you can mention dietary wishes. Where ours was difficult (no olive oil), the kitchen was able to work around it perfectly. All the dishes were very tasty and looked very good. The service is warm and friendly and personal.

This is a busy lodge in the heart of Montagu well supported by smallish tour groups from Europe. It is ideal for 1 or 2 nights. Dinner is additional to the cost (R420 without drinks or R600 with drinks) of bed and breakfast. The chef / owner a renowned award winning chef. We never had the 5 course meal preferring to try some of the local restaurants in the town. Breakfast was good catering for full English or continental. The hotel rooms are tastefully decorated however there was no air conditioning in any of the 3 rooms we occupied. Fans are provided. It would have been nice to have a small fridge in the rooms too. The garden is neat and lovely to sit in and the pool area is restful. For tourists / visitors to the area very little information is available other than a map of the wine route and a pamphlet on the historical walk through the town. As a South African talking British family through the area I felt more could be done to encourage tourists to stay longer in the area and activities to enjoy like the protea farm tractor ride and route 62 route via Barrydale.
