We ended our visit to Malaysia, celebrating our Golden Wedding anniversary, staying at the Lone Pine a beach hotel on the beautiful island of Penang.
We we greeted on arrival by General Manager Francois and Elisabeth.
We stayed in a Super De Luxe, sea facing room. This was large, had a separate day room and a large bathroom with a walk in shower. A large balcony had comfortable seating and a sunken bath.
On arrival we were treated to a bottle of wine and beds decorated in rose petals with towels folded as swans. We were also given a very large selection of fruit. A very nice touch and much appreciated.
Breakfast and dinner in the Bungalow restaurant offered a good selection of Eastern and Western food. The contemporary bar, although not very well patronised, provided a relaxing place for a drink. The hotel is surrounded by numerous cheaper restaurants and bars. It no doubt suffers from this competition in the evenings.
What made this holiday experience so enjoyable was the friendly and helpful staff at all levels. They made up for any criticism of the fading fabric of the hotel. Special mention for Faroak, Mira, Maran, Siva and Haiqal for their friendly care and attention.
With plans to refurbish rooms, the elevation of this hotel to former glory should be complete.More
