We actually rented every room at the whistling Seas for a school trip. Every room was quite clean and had a good feel. Most rooms had a/c, and one room even had 2 a/c units. They had a huge cabana on the beach for meetings, although we preferred to use the beach... Lots of hammocks to hang out on too. One room was huge, and could easily sleep 8 people.
We all liked the feel of the place - better than the other places we got down there. Great price too, although there was a discount due to booking the entire hotel. It seemed to be centrally located, with a great restaurant across the street - Inees[sic]. They had a restaurant on the property, but we only bought drinks there, and they did sell liquor by the bottle for a good price.
The drum circle and Garifuna dancing was right across the street. That was quite an experience, and I recommend everyone try that. We found the hotel to be quiet...even though we actually had a DJ set up in the big room, and mix all night. In the room, it was quite loud, but I did a check around the hotel grounds every 30 minutes to see if you could hear it, and it was contained amazingly well. The rooms are concrete, and quite solid, I must say.
I would stay there again, and we will definitely take more groups there.
