“A great vacation”
Reviewed March 14, 2018 for a stay in March 2018

Latitude Adjustment was a great get away for us. We went to Hopkins to explore and learn more about the village. The place was perfect for what we what we were hoping to discover. It is near the middle of town, surrounded by locals. Beach, Grocery stores and restaurants within walking and/or bicycling distant. Bikes (Beach Cruisers) were provided by Brian, the owner. Brian was a great Host, gave us some good suggestions of things to do and even gave us rides to a couple of places which was on his way out of town. The facility was clean, comfortable and the amenities, WiFi, laundry room, Bikes, swimming pool met our needs. The weather was great while we were there, there was a couple of days it got a bit hot and an AC unit would have been nice. Brian provided a larger fan and it made it more comfortable. We improvise and took advantage of the pool during those hot days. The Kitchen was perfect for our 2 week stay, with a charcoal grill available, we had a few poolside BBQs. The only thing that took a few days to adjust to, was the barking dogs from the locals. Bring bug spray! Deepwoods Off works the best. If you are not in good shape, I recommend renting a motorcycle if you want to get around outside of town. If you plan to just stay in town, rent a golf cart, they run $65-$70 A day. We had a great vacation!

“Comfort and community in a local town”

From the time Brian (the owner) picked us up at the airport until the time we left for our next stop in Belize 3 days later we felt like we were part of a local and friendly community. We traveled on New Year's eve and when we landed Brian was waiting to take us to our new cabana. On the way we stopped at a great spot for lunch and also stopped for groceries. By the time we arrived at our destination we had met at least three new local people and were invited to check out the New Year's eve party at Windschief, a favorite expat-local place on the beach. The rest of our time there we were greeted in town with friendly faces and more community goodwill. If you are interested in seeing Belize from a side that is not strictly a resort then this is the place to do it hands down. We were looking for a start for our honeymoon before heading out to a more secluded Caye. Hopkins offered some decent restaurant and bar choices and we also appreciated having a kitchenette in the cabana. With five cabana around a nice little pool, the spot offered a balance between privacy and friendly chats with other traveling couples and Brian. The cabana itself is nicely done and comfortable, plus it has a great shower and tranquil porch with a couple of chairs and a hammock.

We stayed for four nights and enjoyed it very much.
Hopkins is a small village with a dusty mainroad and not that many tourists
We stayed in Green Iguana and Blue Marlin, both with interiors that is a perfect match to the name. Very well equipped and you can see that the owner care about the place. Don't forget a torch - you need it on your way back home from dinner

“Great Spot”

This place was a great find in Hopkins. I was a bit worried that here weren't more reviews of any of the 5 cabanas on the property but that is because it has only been open since January. We were originally booked into the Blue Marlin, but as we were checking in, Brian, the owner, discovered that one of the ceiling fans there (there are 2 in each unit) was not working, so he immediately moved us next door to the Green Iguana. Only one other unit was occupied (and Brian was staying temporarily in one). The Cabanas were great, not big but well organised, with a great little kitchen area, a comfortable bed, a couch and a spacious bathroom. A nice front porch (with hammock) looked out over the nice little swimming pool, which is brand new (apparently we were the first guests to use it). The place is only a few minutes walk from Hopkins' seemingly endless beach and restaurants and grocery store are also only a couple of minutes away (all of Hopkins is within fairly easy walking distance or use the bicycles). Brian was tremendous. He even gave us a lift out south of town for a "local" night of bar hopping. All in all, a great find.
