We just got home from an all inclusive 7 night stay at Casa Conde Del Mar on Panama beach in Guanacaste! It was perfect. I should also start by saying the pictures don't do the resort justice AT ALL. I have only ever stayed at busy resorts before, and I was a bit nervous at the previous reviews saying how quiet it was. It was the most amazing vacation! There is a relaxing and gorgeous salt water pool with pool bar- and we had this to ourselves on many occasions which was so relaxing with great music, the bartender Mikel was very fun to hang out with and an exceptional bartender! He was creative and made us feel very welcome. There is also an even bigger pool with two little waterfalls and another bar and some upbeat music. The beach is right there and the sand is dark and very soft. The water is clear and clean. The grounds are kept very clean.
The room was exceptional. I couldn't believe how modern, clean, huge, and luxurious it was. Pictures also don't do it justice. It was far bigger than we needed and we were upgraded from a superior room to the master suite for free. It is great that they do this when the master suites are available because it made our experience that much better!
Information about tours are on site, and there are spa services available for great prices. We used the tour services (tico tours) and spa services (came to our room), and both were great.
The food was great quality and the water was as well (neither of us were sick at all and we didn't stray from much food and drink-wise). My only (very minor) complaint about my stay was that because it was so quiet, they had meals by menu for the majority of the meals during our trip. Ordering off of the same menu for 10 meals left a bit to be desired (for lunch and supper- they have a separate breakfast menu), but food was great and there was a pretty good variety available. There is also a separate snack menu and they usually had a pre-made snack bar open (chicken fingers, breaded fish, fries, nachos, hot dogs, and a variety of pizzas).
I strongly recommend this resort! Not ideal for a big group looking to party, but for couples, families, or a group of mature adults... It is perfect!
Also- the Asa around the hotel is gat too. We saw monkeys and it is a 15 minute cab ride to coco beach (as well as other communities) where you can see another beach, shops, and a bit of local culture. There are lots of tours available (jungle, horseback riding, fishing etc.), and we recommend tico tours for this (they have a spot in the lobby of the hotel to help you out).

Room Tip: Master suite is definitely the best room and it is exquisite! The green buildings you see in pictures have the master suites in front (front three balconies on each side all belong to one room!), and I believe the superior rooms are in the sides of the green buildings. The ground level rooms also look modern and reflect your more typical hotel room layout. I would pick one of the bungalows with a pool view if it were me, but I think most have a decent view anyway, only one I may not want is the bungalow closest to the gym/sports bar because it is off to the side and maybe noisier at night (and less of a view). If I could get the same room again I would - 202A. You can walk to the pool from your room since it is ground level,

We just returned from 4 nights at Casa Conde and can't say enough good things. The photos don't do it justice. I thought it would be a small boutique hotel, but this is actually a large resort that is well-maintained and with ample friendly staff. Best of all, it's extremely private, quiet, and laid-back. If you're skeptical because this is mostly an all-inclusive resort, it has much more of a small hotel feel (despite the beautiful grounds). This is not a place for non-stop action, so if you want something with great nightlife and activities, you'll probably be disappointed. It's a perfect place to relax, chill, and take in the nightly sunsets on the beach. It's kid-friendly, though there weren't a lot of kids.

Staff was so responsive. We only had one issue -- a small bees' nest on our patio. I notified the front desk, and when we returned to the room, the nest was gone. There are bees everywhere in Costa Rica. I note this just to show how responsive they were.

The resort features two newer buildings, where we stayed, and some charming one-story bungalows that have three rooms each. The bungalows looked great and are the rooms with the wood decor and high ceilings that you see in the pictures. All rooms are in a great location near the beach, pools, and dining area. Our room looked brand new and had a nice granite coffee/fridge area and tons of closet storage with drawers, in addition to a dresser. I've honestly rarely seen such great storage in a hotel! It's true that the mini-bar and coffee are free only for the first night, but the bars and restaurant are available throughout the day. Note that there is a large step up into the tub/shower area and that they don't replenish toiletries.

There is a "sports bar" that is outdoors and open at night, and has a pool table, music, and TVs, and a kids' area with foosball and table tennis. There's a very small outdoor gym and a volleyball area. There are two huge pools - much bigger than they appear in the pictures, and both have a large kiddie pool area and unheated jacuzzi. Pool temperature was great. Sometimes we were the only people in the pool. Note that the pool seating is all in the sun, so bring sunscreen! Both pools have a swim-up bar with friendly bartenders who make great drinks! There is also a hut where they make fresh fruit and vegetable smoothies, which were delicious and healthy. The drinks were innovative.

The public beach is beautiful, and you can take lounge chairs onto the beach. There weren't people selling things on the beach -- it was very laid back. The water was clean and calm.

Tipping was a bit strange. It's definitely not mandatory, but we usually tipped a few dollars at meals. Staff certainly didn't act as though they expected tips. There wasn't a line for drinks.

Food was good. It wasn't the best food ever, but we always ate more than enough. The chef takes pride in his job, and the wait staff was great - especially Jose P and Daniele. Breakfast was usually a buffet that included a waffle and omelet area, fresh fruit and juice, cereal, yogurt, pastries, and a hot buffet of gallo pinto, vegetables, a meat, etc. Lunch and dinner were generally a la carte, but when they have a lot of guests there's a buffet. One night the buffet had chicken, steak, and fish options. The menu includes steak, chicken, pork, and seafood. There was always a salad bar and soup or appetizers off the menu. Dishes were artfully presented, and there was often a special. We tried nearly everything on the menu and liked everything. Dessert wasn't nearly as good -- usually some small desserts on the buffet or a slice of cheesecake. There is a second restaurant that was not open when we were there, as there weren't enough guests to open it.

There are lots of iguanas and birds to watch, and we saw howler monkeys. If you hear something that sounds like dogs barking/doors creaking, it's probably howler monkeys. We saw lots of them hanging out in the trees.

The hotel is fairly isolated, except for two other hotels. Hermosa Beach is a 5 minute drive, and Playas del Coco is about 15 minutes by car and has souvenir shopping, restaurants, and a grocery. The hotel is a quick 20-30 minute drive from Liberia airport.

Bring bug spray! While they spray for bugs and are meticulous with the grounds, some spots were buggier than others. They also have bug spray you can use. Wifi was fast and available at the pools and sometimes at the beach.

We would definitely recommend the resort and would stay here again. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind.

Room Tip: Newer rooms are in the two-story buildings by the saltwater pool. Bungalows have high ceilings.

We absolutely loved this place. If you're looking for night life or action this is the resort for you. It's small, which we loved! There were many occasions we had the pool to ourselves! We stayed in the master suite, which was absolutely beautiful! The resort is extremely clean and all the staff was very friendly. We had great bartenders one was Michael and the other gentleman worked the sports bar in the evenings. The food was excellent! The fruit was absolutely amazing too. I was just telling my husband that I wished we stayed here for our honeymoon. There's no question we would stay here again. Highly recommended!! Our only negative is when we got there at noon they wouldn't let us start the all inclusive until 3pm. We were hungry and thirsty:(. Thankfully I packed snacks.

Room Tip: Go with the master suite second floor. The suite is huge.

My wife has an allergy to cats so "WestJet" a Great Canadian Airline removes her from the plane and sends her to the closest resort to Liberia Airport in Costa Rica for two days Casa Conde del Mar Resort on Playa (beach) Panama. The resort is one of the oldest so it has everything you need. There is a place for everyone. Daycare, gym, teenagers hangout with dry bar and disco tech, two pool bars for guest in the pool or out. They also except dogs, sorry no cats. On did I mention this is "All Inclusive" in which WestJet Thank You, paid for, the cost $320 a night. It is not a bad price, if you break down what you would pay for each meal and then the cost of a hotel, you come out a winner. As I mentioned before food is expensive in Costa Rica. I should know I live here on the the Pacific Coast side of Costa Rica. The food was great, they have three meals a day plus four snacks a day, all you can eat and drink in one day. The staff also cater to Gluten Free and will go out of their way, to do special food order.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for three nights and we were definitely ready to leave by day 4! If you are looking for a fun, entertaining all-inclusive resort this is not the place for you. We booked our stay before reading how small the resort actually was so when we arrived and saw how small it was we were disappointed. The grounds were certainly beautiful and the atmosphere was extremely relaxing. It just wasn't what we expected. We were most disappointed to find that the hotel only had one restaurant. It offers a buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner but we were really looking for more variety and other options like you typically find at other all-inclusive resorts. The rooms were clean but they could definitely use some updating - especially the bathrooms. The only friendly staff members were the girl who worked the smoothie/towel booth and the bartender at the sports bar, Oscar. Oscar makes amazing cocktails and is the nicest guy we met during our whole trip to Costa Rica! The front desk staff was not friendly at all - one even hung up on me when I called from our room! If you are looking for a low-key, beautiful beach front hotel then this place is great, but if you want entertainment and variety then I'd recommend a different resort.
