The view is gorgeous and the breakfast is tasty; that’s about all there is to complement unless one likes paying four-star prices for a two-star property. Don’t stay here.

It started off on a bad note when the driver the hotel hired (cost of 30€) to pick us up was not at the airport when we arrived as expected. A call to the hotel indicated he would be there in five minutes, which was 30 minutes late. My sister and I were dropped off at the village along with another couple who were staying at a different property. There was someone from their hotel waiting for them who took their luggage and directed them to their destination - nobody from the Mill Houses was. My sister and I pulled out a phone (international data needed) to figure out where the hotel was located from the drop-off point and started pulling our suitcases across the cobblestones toward the property. Fira was adorable.

After a few blocks someone met us, swept away our luggage and swiftly took off to the hotel. This gentleman was super strong, easily hefting a heavy suitcase up on his shoulders while carrying the other while quickly descending the numerous and oddly spaced stairs down to the hotel (more on this later). We checked in. No cool towels or welcome drink as indicated on their website. A very businesslike transaction, not a hospitable welcome.

We stayed in an “upper level suite” with a separate bedroom, a kitchenette, and our own jacuzzi (note it isn’t heated, as most private jacuzzis aren’t heated on the island). Storage was minimal with one drawer and a very small half height closet. Part of the reason for the suite splurge was that their website stated that upper level suite amenities included freshly squeezed juice, cocktails, and light fare throughout the day. That is a lie.

There is NO food or drink available at the property, not even a bottle of water other than the one in the fridge upon check in. The website states that room service is available. Nope. And don’t be fooled and think the structure by the pool that looks like a pool bar IS a pool bar; it’s housekeeping storage and a book library.

What this means is that if you want anything to eat or drink - even a drink of water as the tap water on the island is not potable - you have schlepp up and down the stairs. (Unless you are in pretty good shape, plan a rest on the way up.) This is not four-star service or worth the $500+ nightly rate. Their website is highly misleading.

The WiFi barely worked; we had to be out on the patio for anything to slowly connect. We were dryly told this was the state of WiFi on the island.

The room wasn’t in great shape. The kitchen faucet wasn’t solidly connected to the counter. The bathroom counter was moldy because the loose sink leaked on the wood counter. Caulking was cracked. (The bed, however, was comfy.)

We decided we wanted to move. Mill Houses was nothing like expectations, nothing like their website made them seem to be. When we spoke to management (Tatiana), they said they had a new owner* and hadn’t yet updated their website, that she would talk to the marketing department about how they represented themselves to those looking for accommodations in Santorini. Tatiana and I had a few emails back-n-forth prior to our arrival to arrange the driver, so there was an opportunity to tell me of the changes.

Mill Houses refunded our money and we moved to a fabulous property with a night and day difference from the moment we checked in - like lightning fast island internet! - and the four-star rate was worth it from the start. This was the hospitable Santorini experience my sister and I were expecting.

* The new property said that there wasn’t a new owner, that they are still owned by the Mylos Restaurant. They did not seemed surprised by our experience.

This was our ‘splurge’ accomodation for our honeymoon and it was a little disappointing.

Excellent location. Firostefani much quieter than Fira but within walking distance to both Fira and Imerovigli. Beautiful scenic walk.
The room was clean, bed comfortable and had beautiful decor.
Breakfast by the pool overlooking the caldera was stunning each morning.
The staff were very friendly
The sunset view!

Room stated ‘Aegean views’, there weren’t any directly from our room, had to go out the front door and onto the pool area.
Our room (106) had the bathroom window leading out to the bar area of the hotel next door. Unfortunately this window was unable to be closed so we had noise, music and occasionally cigarette smoke coming in.
The wifi is very unreliable in the room but works perfectly by the pool
Only 4 sun lounges next to the pool - when the hotel is full this makes it very hard to find one.
Asked for a Taxi transfer to airport, quoted 30€ (it should be 20-30 which is still expensive) agreed on €25 then got taken to a minivan with other people (and charged then 25€) which was just a rip off.

Just as a side note- there are 100 steps down to Millhouses and another 35 ish to our room. If you have mobility issues or have children this place is not for you. The area is not safe for young kids. Given that they advertise honeymoons and weddings, I’m surprised children are allowed.
Also this is a very small hotel, which is great if you get along well with the other guests which we did for the majority of the time, however it is challenging with loud people.

We had an incredibly good stay here. We love the location - walk able from busy Fira, a short drive to Oia. Firostefani is highly underrated. It has cute cobbled lanes , excellent cafes and great hotels

We had a Caldera view and didn't have to spend a fortune for it.

What makes this place special is Andreas, the most efficient , warm and hospitable staff in all of Santorini. He cared for us like family.

The setting for breakfast is jaw dropping. The room was so cute and quintessentially greek

One of the best places we stayed at during our Greek Sojourn

The view was exceptional and staff extra polite and helpful! Breakfast exceeded expectations as there was a wide variety of choices. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Firostefani location is a great choice to pick for staying in santorini island; walking distance from the capital Fira yet has its own life and same spectacular views to volcanic caldera.

Warning: zero service and if that’s what your looking for at USD1000 a night, than you’ll love it. Other than breakfast, you get NOTHING. No wine, no water, no lighter, no nothing. The views and the rooms are spectacular, but so are all the hotels in the area. They all have great views. Highly recommend looking at other hotels that have a bit more service, than just bad breakfast.
