Arrived at 8pm to a champayne welcome, check in quickly & our bags were delivered to our room immediatly.

We were going to book some trips after listening to the welcome meeting but the prices were extremely high & we hired a car for a weeks instead ( the cost of 2 trips was more than a Focus sized car).

The food was excellent but I get fed up with buffet & prefer waiter service but in 10 days holiday we could not get into the a l carte restaurant once during our stay. The red & white wine served at the bars & in the restaurants were very good their is no doubt that the spirits were watered down. I have written to Thomson about this & they are not interested.

Very important point for anybody elderly or with any walking difficulities teh beach is down a slope from the gardens it is not great for trying to get up/down & their is no beach bar or loos so you have to come back to the main hotel grounds which for many proved difficult.

The superior room we had was lovely with a great view of the sea, but beware many of the rooms do not have lift access to them so be prepared to tackle 3 flights of stairs, it does depend on your room type & the rooms are all mixed up some in the main building, some in annexes overs in the grounds. I do not know a fair bit about this as being a Personal Travel advisor I asked to be shown around & also have a contact for room requests in the future for any of my clients.

The entertainment team were fabulous & their show on the last night was great, all clients, reps & the entertainment team were flying home the next day as the hotel was shutting for the winter.

When we were there most of the guests were over 60 there was just a handful of us under that. We met some lovely people & quite a number that were professional complainers & didn't realise that the hotel was no longer a Thomson Gold Hotel, they had booked it themselves off the internet & hadn't twigged then - their own fault & nobody elses.

If this hotel was available through another UK holiday I would book to go again, but as it is Thomson & I found their rep Katy to be uninterested when we had huge delay flying home ( she was 'busy' with the other reps in the pub opposite the airport), they could have kept us at the hotel for 7 hours instead of sitting on the airport floor. Their Customer Services department in the UK are also extremely poor we endured an emergency landing on the outward flight from Birmingham & spent 5 hours at Gatwick awaiting a replacement plane, then with the episode coming home too I felt warranted a letter but they are not interested in their clients just lining their pockets.

If anybody has any questions about this property particuarly the getting around it & rooms allocation please let me know.

Room Tip: Be very careful where you choose as some have no lift access.

We picked this hotel from the Thomson couples brochure with the intention of having a late relaxing break, we were not disappointed the hotel is superb and the quality of service is even better. We arrived late and were welcomed with sparkling wine and a late buffet supper in the dramatic atrium which forms the core of the main hotel building. We had a superior room overlooking the pool and the bay, it opened on to the atrium so was very pleasant aspect from all angles. We went half board and did consider buying the all inclusive option whilst we were there but we are not big drinkers so decided not too. This proved the correct choice for us, we would not normally eat three meals a day so the breakfast, some fruit for lunch and evening meal worked for us. Additionally we planned a few days out on trips so all the AI would have given us was a few drinks and three or four lunches for £330. We had drinks from the bar and several bottles of wine with dinner, ice creams etc. and our bill only amounted to £115. The hotel was very flexible and allowed HB customers to swap lunch/dinner so we also did that one evening and had a night out in Rhodes town. The wine was expensive for what it was though so if you wanted a lot of it go AI.

The room was large, clean and well equiped, we did have to pay €25 for the key to the safe which is a bit irritating but seems to be the norm. Our room was directly between the Atrium and Pool bar which both had WiFi so we had that as a bonus. From what we could see most rooms would have a sea view apart from some on the outer wings which might have other rooms in front and below them. We were directly above the a la carte restaurant which onloy caused a problem when the hosted a genuine greek weeding wich started at 11:15pm and ended about 3am, interesting but very noisy. The hotel delivered a basket of fruit after we mentioned it but some prior notice would have been good as our balcony overhung the festiviities just 15 feet below.

The food was good quality and quite varied, plenty of fresh salads and fruit and freshly prepared meats, one minor gripe as someone who cannot eat cheese is they did tend to sprinkle it over everything, the salads, the rice and the potatoes all got covered! It limited the choice rather than spoling anything. The fruit "juice" was weak squash which let the restaurant down, everything else was really good though.

The beach is patchy, some fine shale and sand and the best area is directly outside the hotel, there is fairly steep slope of shale on the water edge which could be tricky getting out but was usually just enough to make us look undignified and give us a laugh. There are the normal boat hire, pedalos and paragliding but they were contained in one area and not intrusive. The hotel provided some lovely wicker pagodas overlooking the bay which you could hire out for the day with optional drinks packages, very relaxing and romantic.

Overall it was good quality hotel with excellent service and great for a relaxing break.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main hotel all have sea views, the rooms in the wings have restricted views but all tow...

This hotel ticks all the boxes for us. We stayed here the second year after it opened and went back for the following 4 years until we had our daughter and now we cannot stay anymore as it is an adult only hotel. In a nutshell, it is very plush, food is excellent with an enormous fresh variety every day, extremely comfortable rooms, staff are the friendliest we have ever come across and they are very sincere - we have made life long friends with a lot of them. It is located on a shingle beach which is also so beautiful and offers great watersports and swimming in the gorgeous turquoise Agean Sea. The enterainment has always been a bit naff and that is the only tiny criticism we have. It is very expensive and the price goes up quite considerably each year and you always have to book immediately you return otherwise you might be disappointed. It seems everyone you meet there has been every year since it opened too and they all just keep going back. The managers cocktail party is great and I will not elaborate on that as it will spoil all the surprises! Do not hesitate to go here if you can afford it. It is peaceful and luxuious and we were never more rested than we were when coming home from there. I have always been so sad upon leaving.

Room Tip: We always book a superior room which is right on the seafront and the views are magical. Big 4 post...

This was our second stay at Atlantica Imperial, and it was very good this time too. The first time we traveled with Fritidsresor (the Swedish part of Thomson), and that worked well. This time we booked directly and arranged the flight ourselves too, which all in all turned out to be significantly cheaper for a better room even. The superior rooms have a dedicated pool, which we almost had to ourselves which was great. The only other guests using the pool in addition to us was some elderly British couples, who provided good company and entertainment since they were very much like Basil Fawlty and his wife in a good way.

The food is very good, but not five star class - a little uneven quality. Since this was our second time here we knew what to expect and the hotel delivered that very well. As for the service level, this is something that we are very satisfied with. The hotels staff is its greatest asset, no doubt. Even though they work hard and long hours, they are always very attentive and do their job with a smile. That´s a five star level as far as service is concerned.

Room Tip: Go for the superior rooms with dedicated pool.

We stayed at the Atlantica in September 2010 and again in September 2011 - both times with Thomsons. We opted for all inclusive and would recommend as drinks prices are high. The first time we booked AI in advance but the second time paid the upgrade on arrival which is quite acceptable. Food is good and plentiful, although all buffet style. Rooms are clean and comfortable - we were in main building both times. Grounds are superb particularly the pools which are clean and large enough for decent swimming. The adjacent beach is pleasant although pebbly and the sea clean and warm. The is a better beach up the coast (car needed) which is golden sands. There is plenty going on in the town which is easy walking distance. Thomsons changed this hotel from a Gold hotel in 2010 to a Couples hotel in 2011. This basically meant not so much organised entertainment this year - although we got the feeling they were re-assessing this as the hotel lends itself to certainly evening entertainment for those that want it. Once every week is e Manager's cocktail party and entertainment. Can also recommend the 'in hotel' car hire - Rhodos Cars as very good value and service?

We stayed here at the very end of September for 10 nights and had a wonderful break with fabulous weather. We booked a seafront suite with small garden area and 4 poster sunbed at the front. We have to say we wouldn't book this type of room again as when using the sunbed there was no view of the sea due to the small wall in front! Also, there is a path immediately in front which didn't make it as private as we had thought it would be. We would however book the suites above. They had the most amazing views with a good size balcony. We were quite envious of those sat out having an evening drink on their balconies looking at the sea as we couldn't really see much even from the chairs on our small patio area. Having said that, the bar areas both on the ground level and upper level were incredible for a pre and post dinner drink. The huge loungers, cushions and sofas on the large terrace bar upstairs are a fantastic touch, with soft lighting and canvas overheads. Possibly because we were staying towards the end of the season we found the grass around the suite's small gardens and sunbeds unkept and the shrubs in need of a tidy up, but this is a very minor point compared to the remainder of the hotel and grounds. Our suite inside was spaceous, well decorated, good furniture, the fridge is now a cool box therefore free to all regardless of AI or half board and kept extremely clean by housekeeping. The bed was huge and for us firm and comfortable. The walls of the suites are very VERY thin - yes, you can hear everything even the things you would rather not hear! But overall, no serious complaints at all about the suite, just our personal disappointment about the restricted view!

We don't think this was just the block of suites we were in, but immediately behind the ground level suites is the store room and equipment area for what appeared to be house keeping. On a few mornings we were woken early by the sound of cleaning equipment crashing and banging around. Quite a shock to the system at 0630 in the morning! It wasn't a regular occurence and certainly didn't spoil our holiday, but perhaps management could make a note of this.

The hotel service throughout our stay was exceptional. All staff that we encountered were polite, friendly and always pleased to help. As already stated here the welcome upon arrival is organised and you are greeted by several staff clearly aware of their roles in this process, a glass of cava and a prompt, efficient and quick check in with your bags to follow. You know you are staying at a good hotel when the staff remember what you like to drink after dinner without you even asking. We were talking quietly at dinner one night about how we like our white wine icy cold - the next thing a waiter arrived with an ice bucket for us! The wine was fine as it was, but this was wonderful service.

Several reviews have stated that the restaurant can become crowded and almost scrum like. Perhaps because of the time of year we stayed, we didn't find this an issue however we can easily see how this could become rather crowded, but we were able to find a table whether inside, the atrium or outside on the terrace with no problems during our stay and the staff ensure things keep moving and remain organised. The breakfast, lunch and evening buffets had wide choices so it was easy to find or create something to our tastes and as well as the usual supply of desserts there was an excellent cheese board. Plentiful and constantly restocked quickly.

We booked half board with Thompsons with a view to upgrading to AI once there as suggested by many here on Trip Advisor. Great idea, and the hotel readily promotes this at the reception desk. We arrived early evening so left upgrading until the next day. It takes the pressure off even if you aren't big drinkers because water is not part of the AI as already stated or tea/coffee after breakfast. We took advantage of the A la Carte Restaurant dining experience as part of the AI for one night and had a fabulous meal. There is a set menu for the AI free dining which was good, but we wanted to experience the stone grill which had an additional surcharge. Absolutely well worth it - what a fantastic meal. You can mix your choices too opting for an AI starter, main with surcharge and keep to the AI house wine if your preferred.

The beach is a good size, but definitely stoney and as the sea level drops as you enter you do struggle to get out a little without beach shoes. No problems finding sunbeds at a small cost on the beach and just a few vendors wandering around occasionally. We did experience children on the beach, but then it is public and there is another hotel further down the road for families. The hotel can't do much about families moving further up the beach or the ear tingling shrieks of children enjoying themselves!

The Manager's cocktail evening on Tuesday evening was one of the best we've experienced. It combined a farewell and thankyou for those leaving the next day. Several very good acts that included staff. A great Blues Brother act, tribute band to The Drifters which was very good and fireworks.

I had a very good pedicure at the new spa on site. Prices are on par with my home area in the UK. Keep an eye out for promotional specials and when to book to take advantage of any discounts.

As already stated there isn't much in the area, just the usual tourist shops, bars and restaurants but there's certainly enough to take in an evening stroll if you want too. It's not intrusive and right on the doorstep, but just a few minutes stroll away from the hotel.

At the end of your stay you settle your bill either in Euros or converted to £ at the hotel's competitive conversion rate so you know exactly what's about to be debited. No nasty surprises with credit card exchange rates when you get the statement.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful hotel and will certainly return. Well done to the management and all staff. Highly recommended.

From the minute you arrive until the time you leave all members of staff, from the manager to the pool attendant, go out of their way to make your stay relaxed and stress free.

The food is excellent, bedrooms are clean and spacious and the hotel is set in tranquil surroundings.

I have been a frequent visitor to the Atlantica Imperial many times and will continue to do so in the future.
