We just got back from a wonderful 4 night stay at B&B Bellavista Costa D'Amalfi. We took Italo’s super-fast, super-nice, high speed train from Rome’s Triburtina station to Salerno. Luigi, the B&B proprietor, picked us up from the Salerno train station and brought us the 10 minute drive to the B&B. The B&B had as on the 2nd floor and had a common kitchen area where guests could share breakfast. Luigi said that we were welcome to water and drinks in the well-stocked fridge. We stayed in the Amalfi room which had access to the large, shared balcony terrace which we had to ourselves since there was no one staying in the neighboring room. We enjoyed breakfast on the terrace every morning which consisted of various sliced meats, cheese, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, various pastries, breads and toasts, a selection of juices, tea and espresso. The room was well-lit, large, tastefully decorated and comfortable. Unfortunately, the TV did not have any English-speaking channels but we did not really watch much except at the end of the day. Luigi arranged to take us to the local train station the 1st morning so we could visit Pompeii. After, we easily walked back to the B&B. He also took us to Salerno on our 3rd day so we could catch the train to Paestum to see the Greek ruins. Every day, Luigi made sure that all our transportation needs were covered. We were mostly able to get around even though we did not have a car by using the local train or SITA bus.

The town of Vietri Sul Mare is basically 2 main streets and an easy ¼ mile walk from the B&B. The town, which specializes in ceramics, is very scenic, quaint and lovely. We ate dinner at Evu’s twice – fabulous, yummy, Nuevo dishes – loved their daily soup. We also ate at Ristorante 34 da Lucia where my husband got a memorable seafood spaghetti dish. On our last night, we ate at Sesta Stazione – they brought out complimentary appetizers of olives and some sort of bean(?) and aperitif wine. We ordered a salad, the spicy pizza and fried calamari which was perfectly cooked – hot, crispy, flavorful and light. Wish we had a chance to return but it was already our last night. We found plenty of excellent places to eat in town.

There is lots to see from this convenient, central, scenic location. We visited Pompeii, Paestum and took the famous SITA bus along the Amalfi Coast to town of Amalfi. We hiked from the town of Amalfi to the town Pontone where we ate a light lunch at Blu Bar. We had the yummy salad with home-made tuna which is specially made by the proprietor’s mother. We then walked on to the town of Ravello to see the famous views.

I’d love to come back one day and relax and soak up the sun a bit more.

Room Tip: 2 rooms share a large balcony with have tables and lounge chairs

The manager/owner greeted us like we were family! The term "my house is your house", describes how welcome you feel staying at B&B Bellavista! Everything is bright, clean and cheery and reasonably priced. The breakfast was amazing and included in the price! Definitely a great place to stay if you want to be close to Salerno or to begin a trip along the Amalfi Coast. Bellavista is about 5-8 minutes drive from the Amalfi Coast road! Scenery from the balcony rooms is spectacular! We will definitely be back and will plan our trip around a stay at Bellavista!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front with the balcony... the views are amazing! Looking out on the Amalfi Coast and the Mediterranean, while you dine on an amazing breakfast... life doesn't get much better than that!

Upon arrival I was greeted with friendly service. The stay was great, right in the middle of Vietri Sul Mare. Conveniently situated between Salerno and the Amalfi Coast. Each room was nicely renovated complete with memory foam mattresses and pillows for a great nights sleep! The terrace had a nice view of the sea.

I'll be back again!! :)

Room Tip: Choose one of the rooms with a terrace.
