We had been advised by the owner of our agriturismo to visit this restaurant and found it to be excellent as he had promised. Our waitress was lovely and most helpful as we tried to work out what we were going to eat in a mixture of Italian and englsh! We were given an,"amuse bouche," to begin which was a cheese served with an unbelievably tasty "cake," which was a tually savoury and made with a string Italian cheese to flavour it. A whole new taste experience and fab. The waitress herself had made it! My vegetarian pasta was wonderful and the pasta itself clearly freshly made. My partner, non veggie, made happy sounds throughout his meal too, having chosen antipasti followed by a seafood based dish. Well worth a visit. A bit of surprise to find a restaurant of this standard tucked away in Palestrina when you can walk the streets of Rome for hours and find the same old, same old everywhere!

To say the food at Zi Rico's is very good would be a gross understatement. It was, in fact, one of the best meals my husband and I have ever had (and we have eaten in some excellent places around the world). Located in a small alley right off of the main piazza, the interior is tastefully and elegantly decorated and spotless. The owner, Enrico, personally explained the menu to us in detail and we were very impressed that every single food item is local. The food was melt-in-your mouth delicious, and was served by an amazingly attentive and friendly staff who saw to our every need and delight. Enrico recommended a particular wine that would go well with our meal selection, and we loved it so much, we bought an extra bottle to take home! Do not leave Palestrina without visiting this culinary piece of heaven!

If you're a tourist and when in Rome, you want to see something different, Palestrina is the place to come and visit.
If you get here, after a visit at the ancient temple and at the museum (there's one of the most well-preserved mosaics from ancient Rome era) and if you're a foodie, "Zi Rico" is the place where you must be.
Located in an old fashioned narrow street, right in the old town centre, the restaurant has a nice and warm ambiance. The atmosphere is so relaxing and cozy.
On the one hand, the wine chart is vast (including local wines, from Latium region), and you'll definitely find the one that pleases your tastes. On the other hand, the menù is not so vast, but this is not a lack since there are used only products of the season. On the chart you can find some traditional dishes with small mutations which gives them a special taste. The "cacio e pepe" (cheese and pepper) pasta is a must. The braised veal cheek with Barolo wine sauce was perfect. The meat was so tender and it litteraly melt in my mouth. It tasted heavenly. Since eating well is not just a matter of taste, but it involves also the other senses, dishes aren't only good, but are presented in a nice manner.
The service was fast (I have to say that it wasn't a busy day) and the waitress (Mihaela) was really kind.
Prices might seem a bit spicy, but are justified by the great food quality and the pleasant atmosphere.

Will I come back here? Definitely, yes!

It took us by surprise to find this hidden culinary jewel in such an unexpected place. There was perspective and imagination in food. A good choice of Italian wines and they were knowledgable on what was on offer. They could explain in relevant detail the characteristics of the products they use and what you are being served, particularly with regards of typical products, food and wine. The service was excellent.
