This is perhaps the nicest hotel room we have enjoyed. It was large, charmingly decorated with a comfortable bed and linen. The bathroom was spacious with good light and water pressure. Paolo and his family were great to deal with ensuring our requests were accurately met. We ate two meals in house which were simple, traditional, well cooked and relaxed. Wine by the glass, carafe or bottle.
Our room was on the road and view side but noise was not an issue. The location is close to some shops and restaurants and the Como ferry system.

Room tip: Lake views on road frontage but garden is charming.

The room was large and had a balcony with a partial view of the lake. The rules and fees for amenities that should really be included were plentiful and ruined the hotel for me. No using the pool after 630pm (what?!), 3 euros per towel, no changing of towels in rooms, no leaving the bathroom door open, no using the fridge in the room, no outside food allowed in rooms.... It felt more like a hostel. The bed could have been comfier as well, and we only received turn down service once in three night! Location great. Couldn't recommend.

Dear Readers,
We are sad to read not having been up to the expectations of the writing canadian lady and apologize if somehow we spoiled her visit.
VLM is a solid italian 3 stars hotel of only 11 double rooms, lovingly restored period villa and opened to the public on 2010,maybe not comparable to hotels of higher category that the lady has visited – seen from her record as “expert traveller” here -. Because its particular features and decor, in the villa -dating back to 1860 - are visible suggestions / informations, some technical simple arrangements of common sense, to make a more comfortable stay for all our guests, present and future ones. For many the word villa is per excellence the luxury.
One of the luxury amenities of a stay in a sort of accomodation is the exclusivity of only few rooms surrounded by quietness, privacy, along with its 3500 sqm garden and plenty Italian style. Sometimes no to be found in a corporate hotel or hotel chains.

We are very flexible and available 24h a day to our Guest. The few requests the Lady has submitted to us,have been largely fulfilled – among them an early check-in and a classic late check-out - We regret that during this Lady’s visit, the weather was not the best to enjoy the garden and the swimmingpool.
The Lady has left online an additional positive comment this time, not matching with this, however we are not here to argue.
Finally I also welcome the opportunity to send our best regards,to all our Guests that enjoyed their visit and to Those that keeps supporting us with frequent stays. And a big thanks goes to our staff, upstairs and downstairs as well aas the gardener for the great job into details they carry out,to ensure a memorable stay for the right reason to all our Guests.

Un saluto
P.G.

The Villa Mirabella is a small Italian villa from 1860 with only 11 rooms.
Just outside the door is the Como lake, and there is a lot of possibilities to take boat and ferries to the many beautiful small cities around the lake. Stayed for 3 nights, and only used boats and walking getting around.
In the garden on the hillside, there is a small pool with view to the lake and the mountains.

This is a beautiful boutique hotel located in Griante, near Cadenabbia, western middle side of lake Como. Hotel location is very convenient for ferry and boat landings, and you can access to all major towns by boat. The hotel is managed by the owner family, who happen to be very kind and considerate. Paolo was extremely helpful in guiding us on transportation and dining options around the lake. Our room had a terrace in front and enjoyed a very nice view of Lake Como. Breakfast was nice but limited in options. The hotel has a spectacular garden at the back hill, and a small terrace pool with lake view. In general, this is a cozy, nice hotel with a very good location.

Villa La Mirabella was one of several venues recommended to my wife and I by Renzo Durini of Your Travel Diary in Milan as he helped us plan our 50th anniversary. It proved to be the perfect choice. It is beautifully located, directly across from Bellagio and near 3 different ferry docks. Several good restaurants are located just outside it gates, and many others within a short walking distance. Beautiful gardens (and its pool) rise up the hill behind it, making a perfect setting for our "cocktail hour" with antipasto before the 50th anniversary dinner.

Because Villa La Mirabella is small and family run (family and friends used 7 of its 11 rooms), our event was important to it, and Paulo did everything possible to make our anniversary the event of a lifetime. It was, and we will be forever grateful to him and Villa La Mirabella for our memories.

Room tip: Let Paulo help you choose the best room for you.
