The hotel is typically Italian, the room was a deluxe room with lake view and was very good but others in the hotel were not happy with their rooms which would appear to vary wildly.Although the food was very good the restaurant and bar facilities were very poor. The staff were very friendly and helpful but management obviously set out for maximum profit. The hotel which is all inclusive serves Shearings and Europes equivalent so there was a very large number of old people there at the time we were there. Have to say lakes Orta, Maggorie and Garda are all better.

Room Tip: Very difficult to advise due to the complex nature of the hotel

Where do I begin. This hotel completely ruined our experience of lake como. Rooms where poor, hotel was dirty and sticky, food was so bad as if it was made in a microwave. The hotel was full of older people so if you're young and want to enjoy chilling out this is not the place for you. The views and location are amazing. But please if you are between 18-35 this hotel is not for you unless you like to hang out with your nan and granddad.

Staff were always pleasant however the quality of the hotel was not even a 3 star in my opinion. the hotel website is misleading and what you see on there is not what you get out here.

We ended up paying double and rebooking a hotel further down lake como and have now enjoyed the rest of our stay !

We paid quite a lot extra for a Superior room with a lake view, the view was amazing but the room had definitely seen better days, it was a very large room with 3 single beds a huge wardrobe, bedside tables, 2 dressing tables, 3 easy chairs and a fridge ! But it was all a bit dusty and faded. The wooden block floor was very loose and a bit of a trip hazard. The bathroom was quite large with just a shower cubicle, no bath but that was ok. The cleaners came in every day and made the beds and I think that was about it they didn't change the towels every day I think they were changed 3 times and we were there 11 days, once they only left 1 large towel so my husband went and found the cleaners trolley and helped himself to another one.
We didn't have anything to do with reception apart from checking in and out and they were very pleasant at these times.
The food was very good, plenty of choice at each meal, there were always salads, meats, lots of veg, a chef frying fish in the corner and a couple of chefs making pizza and pasta. The ice cream was delicious and there were about 10 flavours! The staff in the dining room worked very hard considering how many people they had to keep happy.
Bubbles Bar was below floor level which was a shame considering the view. The entertainment was a guy playing the organ, not my cup of tea but a lot of the residents seemed to enjoy him. The barman was very overworked, most people resorted to getting 2 drinks at a time to save queuing for 10 to 15 minutes every time, one night we saw one barman working and 3 others stood at the end of the bar in casual clothes distracting him.
All in all we loved the location of this hotel but would not return.

The hotel is far too big- dining room like a football pitch- by the time got back to table food, alreaydy often lukewarm, was nearly cold.. Staff worked really hard but struggled to cope with numbers. Room pokey and shabby, bathroom minute. Shearings charged way too much and trying to get guests to pay even more for better bar facilities- the free bar was awful- is a complete rip-off. First and last time we sahll use Shearings. Compalined on return and no reply from them. Hotel badly needs face-lift and reorganisation of food area. Only plus point - Shearings rep was excellent

This hotel was recommended via a wedding party in the area, and being one of the more reasonable priced hotel in the area but still looked half way decent we opted for this choice.
It is spectacularly located, great pools, great bar next to the bar (happy days). The view was amazing, and cannot be faulted. My poolside visit was slightly disappointing as by 2pm there where no more beach blankets for hire and they are very clear at not using the hotel towels, well thanks for that! Nothing some sunbathing and all inclusive drinks didn't fix, note that bar snacks are not part of the all inclusive deal, even the most platinum bracelets that apparently get you everything including the a la carte restaurant and the BBQ, which is AMAZING and you must go to. A reservation is needed, but some of the best BBQ's food every, the chef is so personal and friendly and a right laugh!
In regards to the a la carte menu, the first dish i tried on there was insanely bland, no taste and hated it. The waiting staff apologised profusely and offered a replacement, so was no a fuss at all. All other instances we ate there were fine and the food really good, very generous drink sized and the staff really attentive.

The room was big, air con really good, a little too cold for my liking, but my husband who is always hot, loved it. Bed was comfy and nice, i could have done with an extra throw or cover as i said i found it slightly cold, but otherwise was great.
The shower was a massive let down, where the bathroom itself was a good size but that does not excuse the poor excuse of a shower! no water pressure, and you literally need to stand under it to get wet...such a shame as i loved the rest of the bits and pieces of the room.
As for the breakfast buffet, it is your very standard, hot food from 7-9am job, eggs, bacon, sausage, beans etc, nothing special, OJ and the likes on the standard dispensing machines, not the best, coffee and tea supplied by waiters (if you can get ones attention) other wise again via the dispensing machines, and not the greatest. If you are all inclusive, i'd say have a small breakfast and coffee, and get a nicer lunch as part of your deal.

Over all, for the price paid, it was a bit of a more than i would have paid if it was a regular holiday, but for what you get, drinks & food, and the choice of 2 other restaurants it was all right in the end. Will i go back, not really for that price - due to the wedding location this is the only reason we stayed there.
