I have been many times over many years and will always go back. The hotel is a nice mix of laid back but elegant – it feels special but not intimidatingly so.

The Britannia is in a wonderful position for both awe-inspiring views and as a base to explore the lake – there are regular buses between Colico & Como and a ferry stop right outside the hotel (personally, I think boat is the best way to experience the lake).

The hotel caters for lots of different nationalities and has a wide variety of food to choose from at every meal, you will definitely not go hungry. The fresh pizzas, pastas and salads are lovely!

It is a shame that some reviewers on here seem to have confused where the responsibilities of the hotel begin and end. So many of the complaints I’ve seen here are beyond the hotel’s control and should have been directed to their tour operator.

Although you will have a lovely holiday at the standard rate, I would recommend the upgrades as we found them to be really good value for all the extras you get. The upgrades really made the holiday amazing for us.

Can't wait to book my next stay!

Room Tip: Go for a lake view upgrade, it is well worth the money.

We were very disappointed with this hotel, it ruined our Christmas holiday.
The hotel was packed with over 500 residents and the hotel was clearly unable to cope with such vast numbers!! The food was very poor at all meals including the Christmas dinner.
There were many problems with the rooms and the reception staff were so busy it was difficult to get to speak to anyone.
Loved the area but wouldn't visit this hotel again.

Hotel clean and staff friendly with all speaking English. Room was spacious with a great view over the pool and lake although you do have to pay a bit more for this but truly worth it. Food was good and all buffet style apart from Xmas day and New year's eve when it was waiter service. I am a fussy eater but couldn't complain over the variety of food available. Would gladly go back and might possibly visit another of the owners hotels.

Lake Como is a beautiful location in Italy to visit. We travel there with SHEARINGS coach holidays. on a 9 day tour . the journey is overland and overnight on the Express coach with "comfort " stops on a regular interval. . The hotel is right on the lakeside and there is a beautiful new "flaoting" swimming pool on the laKE . there are several days out included on the tour plus optional tours . I HIGHLY RECOMEND THE BERNINA EXPRESS TOUR The hotel is "FULL BOARD" but if you are out for the day they provide a packed lunch instead of your mid day meal. there is live entertainment each evening in the bar lounge where you can dance or just enjoy the evening. All-iun-all a very excellent holiday for all wether active or you just want to chill . the hotel staff are friendly and helpful; and the SHEARINGS driver and courier are excellent at their jobs . both friendly and knowledgeable of the area and share that knowledge with you

Room Tip: when you arrive the reception will offer you an upgrade if you require

We booked again for the New Years Eve period and were not disappointed, staff were friendly and the atmosphere was really good with festivities lasting well into the early morning on new years day.

We both always enjoy our stay at this hotel, taking the time out to visit the surrounding cafes and restaurants while enjoying the fantastic views over the lake. Travelling to the other towns such as Bellagio, Menaggio and Varena are a must and made easy by the ferry that docks a stones throw from the hotel.

Great hotel and experience for the price !

Room Tip: Higher floors and lake facing are a must
