We stayed here for 2 nights. It is a very cute hotel with individual cabins for rooms. The main check in/restaurant/lodge area is beautiful as well. It is at the end of the beach strip so a bit quieter which is nice - and right across the street from the beach! The breakfast that is included is very good - homemade bread, fruit, hot drink, fresh OJ and an egg how you like it. All staff are very friendly and lots of English speakers! Our only complaint is the bugs are pretty bad here so be sure to bring some spray!

I can't say enough good things about Mandala. It is a tranquil, lovely place on a quiet end of the beach, with fantastic food and brilliant service. But it is also a beautiful work of art, put together by the lovely Swiss/Italian couple who own it, and have clearly been cultivating and working on it over the last 20 years. Everywhere you look, there is another intricate creative detail, another beautifully designed space. The only trouble is you won't want to leave.

Beautiful and rustic accommodations with no air conditioning but with the fans and the breeze it not needed. Cabanas on the beach with hammocks supplied by the lodge. Meals were very good. Off the beaten path but a great place to relax.

We really enjoyed our 3 nights at Mandala. We stayed in the Pulpo (Octopus) cabana.

Staff was friendly, good food and service. The property is right across a small road from the beach.

Tip: Do not leave anything unattended on the beach. In our 3 days we heard of two different people who had items stolen while they were swimming.

If you plan a trip to Puerto Lopez don't hesitate to book a place here.

This place may just have been our favorite of the 6 places we stayed on our 2 week trip to Ecuador. The owners are great fun and the place is a living art exhibit. Most of the furniture and all the walls and toilets and roofs and signs are embellished with hand carved wood objects and sculptures and paintings and embellishments. Breakfast and dinner were amazing everyday and there was an endless supply of drinking water, beach towels, cold cervezas and cokes. The staff were all so sweet and eager to show us things around the garden. The sunsets were the best as was the giant rainbow. The beach safe and warm to swim at and tuk tuks very easy and cheap to get to town and back. The town of Puerto Lopez was very nice and relaxed. The big dogs were a bonus and the birds and lizards abundant and fun to watch.
