I joined its 7days Sipadan liveaboard diving tour and spent one night there before the trip started. The air conditioner is horribly noisy, also the electric generator right downstairs out of your poorly assembled window. Only a towel-thin blanket offered which is not enough at all at night. Health condition is doubted as I got 10 bugs bites on my legs at night, not sure by what but looks very likely flea bites. The breakfast is just toast and butter, and some instant coffee bags. With the charge of 95RM I would rather to stay at the hotel Seafest right next to it, at least they offered much better health condition and buffet breakfast. Similar comment is given by another diver from Florida.

Worst part is, I got a very serious virus infection at the last day of the liveaboard trip, non-stop vomit and diahhear for whole night. I'm sent back to the hotel at 9am next morning and waiting for a 12:00 pick-up car back to Tawau airport. I asked if there is any empty bed for me to take a rest for 3 hours as I was in extremely bad shape at that time, the answer is that I have to pay a whole night charge for that. It is not much at all, just $7, but after I have just joined its $2000 trip and regardless my illness is incurred during it? The whole hotel turns out all empty and no bed is occupied anyway! It's the most irresponsible attitude I have ever met in my life.

Unfortunately a disappointing stay at the complicated sounding Borneo Global Sipadan Backpackers. Admittedly this place is very cheap, but the water doesn't work properly in the bathrooms, which means flushing the toilet or taking a shower involves visting reception and using a bathroom in one of the lower floors. Reason was apparently that they "can't always pipe water to the higher floors". Hmm.

Service was poor at best, and neglectful at worst. Unannounced visit to unsuccessfully change a light bulb was the most amount of contact we had with staff.

Breakfast was less than inadequate - we opted for dry toast as the 'butter' and 'jam' options were less than appetising. We left hungry. Room was dirty and in need of a paint job and it wasn't clear when the sheets had last been changed.

I wouldn't dream of using this place as a dive shop, there are many much better and more professional looking options in Semporna that are closer to the main town centre.

We have been there 2 days ago and it's a lodge just in emergency case: dirty, heavy air, wifi only in reception.

we stay for 5d4n, at deluxe room (1 double and 1 single) with ensuite bathroom, the place is clean and quiet. Breakfast is toast bread (with peanut butter) and coffee or tea (they marketed as simple malaysian breakfast, which part of malaysian i don't know) although at first the staff seems to be "cold" they got friendlier at the end. During the stay had broken pipe, had reported it, but until we leave nobody came to fix it, but the bathroom is still working. Have to walk about 10-15 min to shop / eateries (though it have cafe at next door), because it's place is little far from the "action", and it's very hard in the days we just finish diving. The highlight is our place looks at the sea, and I think this is one of the two place of Backpacker lodge where you get that view of the sea. So you wake up seeing sunrise that would brighten the room (it differ from the other where mostly you get windowless room, or window that look only to the street)

Room Tip: ask for room 7 or 8

Bought their package on MIDE 2011 since they claim that they can definitely arrange a trip to Sipadan... Staff are all friendly and very helpful...

The BGSB are locate at the old jetty which they don't use it anymore for tourist since the opening of the new tourist jetty located quite far a way, but it is not a problem since they provide transportation to go there... All the shops and restaurant are within walking distance (15 minutes)... You must check the fish market located just at the back of the lodging... :)

I upgrade my room to deluxe (AC) for more spacing and safety since i'm bringing my own diving equipment. The room are surprisingly clean and comfortable for a price of just rm90/per night... unsuited bathroom with hot & cold shower... There is no TV in the room but there is TV at the reception counter which is ok for me... But for 4d3n im staying there, they doesn't change the towel and make up the room (what do you expect from backpackers lodging) hehehe no offense here...

The dive center is in good condition... all equipment are placed very well and in order... the equipment can be classified as new compare to the other DC in Mabul based on my past exp... the Dive Master (Roland) have given a high standard of services... always helping and showing interesting thing underwater without neglecting the issues of safety...

Highly recommend for divers who are looking an escape from lifeless island life in Mabul... :)

Room Tip: Upgrade to triple or family room...
