While looking for a convenient, not-too-expensive hotel on our trip through central Germany, we decided to try our luck at the Parkhotel Leiss and got a reasonably large room for a decent price. As we had our mountain bikes with and wanted to take a ride in the adjacent hills, the receptionist was very helpful in suggesting routes and sold us a detailed bike map. It turns out that the hotel caters to cyclists. The area has, by the way, some challenging bike routes.
The Parkhotel is centrally located on the main thoroughfare but our room faced the inner garden, so if road noise is an issue, ask for a room away from the road. There was plenty of free parking and we could also lock up our bikes overnight in the garage. The old town part of Lohr is just a 10-minute walk from the hotel and has some interesting buildings and restaurants.
We had breakfast in the atrium part of the restaurant; as late risers there wasn’t the whole range of food left by the time we got around to eating, but we certainly were able to make do. All in all the hotel was quite good value for the money and perfect for a simple one-night stay.More
